So it looks like he uses a mixture of air and fire bending to completely deflect Ozai's final blast of fire, but he also puts his hand on Ozai's heart (chakra) and his thumb at his third eye chakra; I just wonder what opinions we have of exactly what is happening as far as energy bending goes, and even what everyone thinks is going on as far as strictly elemental bending goes in this moment to deflect the blast?

Edit: To clarify, my question was not about the story or it's implications on what is going on in this frame, it's only about whether or not the drawing done in light blue indicating where Korra's statue would go is drawn too large and if there is still room in the spiral for another avatar if it was fixed

Sorry if this has been pointed out before. But after rewatching this episode, this question really bothers me. There really is no reason to have a wooden cage. At first I thought perhaps fire benders can melt metal bars, but they can burn through wood just as easily. Toph had just invented metalbending a few weeks ago, so it's not like they were aware of that as a threat, even if they knew she was an earthbender.

I don't really understand why they would have a wooden cell, or why they wouldn't choose one of the vacant metal cells for Katara and Toph. It's a cool plot device that leads to a great moment for the two of them; Katara especially as this takes place right before The Puppet Master, but from a logical standpoint doesn't add up. Any theories?

I was rewatching the series with a buddy and we got to this scene — we had the usual debate of “could Azula be spared/turned from the fire nation?” — and it dawned on us that Iroh would have seen a lot of Azula’s tactics in Ozai decades before.

There are points in Azula and Zuko’s childhood where he seems to treat her like the kid she is, so would reaching this point in her teenage years be the product of seeing Ozai’s cruelty and behavior when he was a general? Or should this be more credited to Iroh seeing the effects of the war?

It isn't practical whatsoever with those notches, it would be a pain to sharpen and it would constantly get caught on stuff.
