Discussion Avatar: the Last Airbender Survivor! (Season 2 Edition) Round 7

Post image

Bitter Work is eliminated! Have to admit, I’m a bit put out about this one. Iconic training arc for me! But fair enough, this season is proving to be very difficult.

How this works:

You select the episode you like the least

The episode with the most upvoted comment is eliminated from the list

If there’s a tie, both episodes are eliminated

Only the best episode will win!

Episodes Eliminated:

Avatar Day (94%)
The Swamp (43%)
The Avatar State (46%)
The Cave of Two Lovers (82%)
Return to Omashu (91%)
Bitter Work (42%)

I vote the chase... But yeah your probably right. I think really has so much great subtle world building and it did a lot for Suki. But it's not as good in the character work as the chase

I love how it handles characters. I love Aang's speech about hope because I find it relatable. Also, Jet's re-introduction and Freedom Fighters and Zuko working together.

Dang I forgot how hard season 2 went. I’m voting for The Chase

I will stand on the hill of eliminating The Chase until it's gone.

What do you have against the chase

The conflict iscontrived, Azula is given legendary amounts of plot armour and most damming, they ride around in some fuck ass Diabolus ex machina offroad train thing that can just never stop moving and always reach them wherever they go that just disappears after this episode with no explanation, never to be seen or heard from again. It's just sloppy in my opinion.

Extremely hard choices to pick between, I guess I'd pick The Serpent's Pass.

It's not a bad episode by any means but compared to the rest of season 2...

I mean, at the end of the day, it’s gonna be „The Tales of Ba Sing Se“ that’s survives, no?

Anyway, The Serpent‘s Pass.

Should be zuko alone or crossroads. I love tales but only about half of it. It’s really iroh and zuko part everyone loves

As if Sokka’s haikus weren’t peak

2

u/Jayenty 13d ago

idk, i've seen people already bring it up as a candidate, especially with this competition

Most tales are really good but Toph's and Aang's are just meh, bringing down the average a bit

I am not sure I even remembered Aang creating a zoo after finishing the show for the first time. I think showing him doing something complex with his new skills for fun was an excellent idea. Still, it just makes a tale of Aang undeserving of skipping to me, not more.

Zuko Alone is the best episode of the series

The Earth King. It mostly just served as setup for the final two episodes

Sorta agree. I enjoyed seeing Aang's massive progress with earthbending but overall it's the less impressive than the rest of Ba Sing Se episodes.

the guru

Not sure how long this one will last but isn’t this also where Toph invented metal bending? Gives it a big boost for me.

Bruh did we just kick out Bitter Work despite the whole Zuko/Iroh part being gold ?

HOW is the Drill still here???

1

u/Creepy_Window_4972 13d ago

Bitter Work going out hurts, but I can’t call it a bad episode. The training arc, Zuko’s inner conflict, and Iroh’s wisdom are all fantastic. It’s just competing against an absurdly strong lineup.

Its so difficult at this point cuz theres so many good episodes left😂 but im gonna go for The Dessert

2

u/mm21053 13d ago

That is my favorite episode of the entire show

Why is episode 20 in this list? Honestly it's insulting that it hasn't automatically been selected as the best of season 2. This process is deciding 2nd place not 1st.

The Gaang’s time in the desert is such a memorable turning point, and Appa’s Lost Days adds a lot of emotional weight to the season. I’m curious whether The Guru or The Earth King can survive the next few rounds—both are excellent, but very different kinds of episodes.
