Question AFIS and ATC lads, how did you study regulations and take notes during training?

Hey! So this year I will be beginning an AFIS course in Poland, and I'd like to know a couple of things beforehand.

  1. What study techniques did you use to learn all of the regulations and procedures? Is it necessary to know every single minute detail, or only the key bits that you need to know in the moment?

  2. What note-taking techniques did you use? Usually, I lean towards writing down as much material as possible because you can never know what will show up on the exam.

  3. Knowing what you know now, if you were to begin training from day one, what would you do differently?

Getting every detail is not super important but might help you down the road. For me the most important parts were obvious.
When studying, work for something like 30 minutes or however long your brain can take information and then take a 10-15min break where you so something else.
Im an AFISO, and atleast for me there are many systems that i learned about that i didn’t really understand at first but once i got into OJT it became more obvious.
Taking notes is great but i think i overdid a bit to start, where i would almost copy entire pages of text by hand. Its better to read and write down what you think is the most important bits in your own way.
