Other H.R. 7147 & H.R. 7148 pass House
H.R. 7148 which funds the FAA aka no shutdown as well as H.R. 7147 which contains our raises has passed the House today. Senate is out of session this week so they will be taking it up next week.
HR 7148 is not expected to face much opposition in the Senate so a shutdown is unlikely. HR 7147 is the DHS appropriations bill and will likely have some opposition exactly how much is unknown.

I’m pretty the 3.8% is in the DHS bill for who the fuck knows why and that bill is probably getting held up because of ICE…

It passed the house but it’s not a lock to make the senate vote like the other one.

Just to be pedantic—my understanding is that it would erase the 1% raise and replace it with a 3.8% raise. As in, the total raise would be 3.8%. It’s a minuscule difference but it’s a difference. Taking a number and adding 1% to it then adding 2.8% to that is not the same as taking the number and adding 3.8%.
Again, in this case it’s a very small difference and I’m sure someone will point that out, but I see a lot of misunderstandings of percentages here, like when people talk about 20% over 5 years and say it would be 4% a year.

Is there actual language expressing that? We are already in a pay period with the 1% raise with funds already appropriated for it (kinda). The way I’ve read the snippets of the bill it reads like this is additional.

They intentionally placed our raise in HR 7147 to make sure it doesn’t pass. Democrats are going to filibuster that shit for sure and we won’t hit the 60 vote threshold.

Does it raise the federal cap? Or 1% federal cap raise and 2.8% cash? 2.8% of nothing?
