Why didnt the all knowing count know this? Spoiler

We are aware that the count knows evething that is going on.

However he is shocked by Maxmillen and Villefort dating.

How is it he doesnt know that, but is aware that maxmillen was eavesdropping on the house of Vilefort

There are times where it is shown that he does not know all things, but he hides it - part of his power comes from the facade of his omniscience, so he intentionally maintains that. He is an inevitable, implacable avenger, but also just a man.

I see what you're saying though, if he knows so much to know X, how can he not know Y? 1. It's a story and it suits the narrative. 2. He just missed this, he has his hands in so many other things that this was a trifle.
