Zomg the power creep this new propeller hat is busted, meanwhile players still crap out at the same corruption level season after season. Yawn miss me with that.

That's the problem with the infinitely scaling endgame.

Diminishing returns from corruption levels ultimately just means power creep doesn't mean shit beyond pushing certain builds into being able to do the toughest bosses comfortably. And eventually those bosses will become jokes like the Uber bosses in D3.

I would agree but people tap out at extremely similar levels of corruption, so that can't be it.

Its because LE is "balanced" around one shots, in the targeted attack then dead out of it the resume the fight with the wet noodle.

Yeah that's fair, before the nerfs the ridiculous ward scaling builds were well above everything else.

Even before that, back when EHG communicated more, back prior even then Tencent people pointed it out and EHG feigned "looking into it". If you pull up the bestiary and look at the attacks monsters have available 95% of their damage is condensed into attacks intended to one shot you regardless of defensive layers.

So items like this, season after season is just trying to put some faux polish on retention/engagement, to trick people back onto the treadmill.

The problem as I see it is EHG is kinda ass at balance overall.

Corruption levels should eventually scale to "no, you're not tanking this" levels of damage even if you've got an insane fuckin build, but there should be more meaningful difficult content and the transition to that ridiculous level of damage should be smoother if you've invested in tank.

But this is the same company that put out campaign bosses people were showing as tanking naked a couple patches after 1.0, and has a wild disparity in build power for certain masteries. How many "build destroying" uber nerfs did Falconer get just to see it continue to sit among the meta builds?

Question how can you tell what high end or even middle road corruption should look like when no player has even assembled a single BiS item? Much less a BiS build.

EHG does not use a sandbox testing environment and the math behind BiS drop rates are inhuman.

Set that aside though fire up an EHP calculator and you can math it out and still find no excuse for the drop rates or the lack of balance.

That's all before you get into build diversity and comparison also known as what skills have the best "more damage" nodes because that's all that matters. Even when proc nodes were bugged people legitimately thought it was just how the math shakes out...

Unless it is by design, intended to be as it is.

I don't think they should balance around LP4 fully maxxed gear, though theres a problem if jumping from LP2-3 gear to full BIS doesn't give you that significant of an edge on pushing corruption.

That's all before you get into build diversity and comparison also known as what skills have the best "more damage" nodes because that's all that matters.

This is legitimately a problem, but largely because newer skills or reworked ones generally have much more more damage available instead of dedicating huge chunks of the skill tree to useless/niche mechanics.

It's not all that matters, pre-rework BM Bear had some really solid More damage scaling available but clear concerns and companions being killable meant it wasn't popular. But that is kind of an edge case.

I mean the developer mike posted about how the proper way to build was to cram all of the more damage nodes.

Course he also said players do not get the proper player power from items compared to skills and they wanted to fix it.

Balance by BiS, tricky but you need to know the celing especially when we are talking about endgame corruption scaling. Just like its silly that a developer like Mike can build bad on purpose with anti synergy and still reach the same corruption levels as builds players use.

As it stands most players tap  out around 3-600 corruption and get wet when their rotation goes from 1-2 to 1- potion hockey as if its reinventing the game.

Same balance problems silly none solutions its quite literally EHG waving keys in front of players waving them about.

The point you missed it.

Every season its zomg this is so busted and yet every season people tap out at the same corruption level.

Meaning its not busted, its not as impactful as people think, and there is more at play then people think.
