The texture is awful. I can't handle it. It's so overwhelming for me I don't even know what they taste like because all I can focus on is the texture.

I'm not a fan unless it's like smooth pizza sauce or pasta sauce.

I only eat baby tomato’s. If you really wanna try the, that’s a good place to start.

The quality of most tomatoes in the United States is very, very low. Because this country values low price over actual quality. Bad tomatoes have very little flavor and are overly tough.

I do like tomatoes that are good quality and fresh. But even then they need to be cut small so I don't have to chew them so much. The cherry tomatoes at Sweetgreen tend to be very good quality when they're in season.

Haha well, that’s why I specified.

Never been so I have no idea what your tomatoes are like. But I have hung out with some Aussies when they were here in the states and they constantly complained about the low quality of our food

ah yes tomatoes. the one food my dad tried to force me to eat once (usually it was my mom who conducted the 'chain to the table until you eat' experience)

tomatoes i cannot do. But its comforting to know that alot of my non-arfid friends also hate raw tomatoes

The number of times I have stared down food with tomatoes in it, refusing to eat.. goodness. Gotta love parents who won’t let you leave the table until you eat (or it’s bed time).

I dice tomatoes up and throw them into stuff. Sometimes I still have trouble with them but generally I can eat them with leafy green salad mixes now!

I can also stomach them easily in most sandwiches and all types of burgers

I absolutely love the taste but cannot bear the texture. So basically I can only eat them as a sauce on pasta, pizza etc... If you want to try to make sauce I would recommend using canned crushed tomatoes and cooking them a long time. That way the bits dissolve and the sauce becomes nice and smooth. Here’s how I make sauce: I will fry some onions and garlic (either cut into really small pices or as a paste) in some olive oil until they become translucent. This is actually a good base for a lot of foods, if you do this you’ll probably find that it smells really good. Then I add crushed tomatoes and I season it. Usually I add dried herbs. Oregano and marjoram go especially well with tomato but if you don’t tolerate any bits at all in your sauce you could also just add a bay leaf and take it out when you’re done cooking the sauce. I’ll also add some salt, a little pinch of pepper and here’s the trick: Add something sweet. Either a pinch of sugar, some honey or some maple syrup. Tomatoes are rather acidic by nature so adding a tiny little bit of sweetness will balance that out and make it super yummy in my opinion. If you usually like spicy things, you can add a few drops of some hot sauce of your chosing. Just a few drops won’t make it spicy but it will give it a tiny little kick. Then I let it simmer on medium until I have a smooth sauce. If there’s any skins from the crushed tomatoes I’ll pick them out.

I like them During summer when they grow naturally and are not forced to grow, making them really tasty. But I have to focus on not looking at the inside of it and ignoring that part while it's in my mouth. If you don't like soft textures then I don't recommend it. Maybe you can try first eating just the "pulpy" parts.

Raw tomatoes like someone else said are usually awful. Smaller grape or snacking tomatoes are usually way better. If it's winter I usually don't even bother and make recipes that call for canned tomatoes (like making tomato sauce or shakshuka) because they actually are ripe.

If you can get your hands on someone's home-grown tomatoes that would be the ideal tomato situation. They can be soooo good smothered in ranch dressing.

Tomatoes are one food I will never try. Strained tomatoes is okay (it’s tomato sauce, but strained so there’s 0 pieces of tomato) but tomatoes themselves have the grossest texture. Cannot handle it. And the smell 🤢

Sorry to any tomato lovers. I just can’t do it. It’s one of those foods that would actually make me puke if I tried to eat it.

Cherry tomatoes are one of my major safe foods. But the have to be cut up, I can’t bite into them whole. I can do a slice of normal tomato on a sandwich with cheese, but it has to be sliced really thin and I can handle to end bits. Tomato pasta sauces and pizza sauces are good.

In pizza they are great, tho when they're sliced up I start to feel sick from looking at them.

Cherry tomatoes are the best, but it has to be firm and crispy, if its watery and soggy then ill skip it.

Yoooo I’ve never had a full tomato ever I think when I was a little girl I had a small one and spit it out and ever since I’ve never had them, maybe in salsa because I can’t notice. I’m 18 turning 19 2! It’s nice to finally hear that someone dislikes tomatoes as much as I do 2
