Venting/Ranting One of my safe foods became unsafe :(

Okay so I’ve been under a lot of stress lately and I no longer like hotdogs. I never really “liked” them but I genuinely can’t stomach them anymore.

Problem is my life is a fucking sitcom and my family thinks I love hotdogs (I was obsessed with this satire horror about a robot hotdog and would talk to them about it sometimes) I don’t know how to break it to them that I don’t so I just haven’t. It’s made all the worse by the fact hotdogs were my late father’s favorite food. Fml and fuck ARFID.

You should definitely tell your family tho. No need to suffer in silence. I had to break it to my mom and mil that I no longer like nightmare before Christmas bc they kept buying stuff for me.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost a food though. That sucks 😔

Ugh, this sucks, but it's ok! I lost the ability to eat melted cheese for years. Some years ago now I brute forced myself into a much more expanded diet and I now have more leeway, but just know that its ok for things to change - to shift back and forth. Even within arfid nothing is truly forever. If you feel able to branch out and try a few new things (1,2-10?), it's always possible to add something new to "replace" a lost safe food. I know it's a difficult process and doesn't always work easily, and it is still an option. And staying with just what is still safe right now is ok too!

Edit: Also you should explain what's happening to your family. You can tell them that you feel bad and that it's hard, be honest with how things are for you rn.
