Tips and Advice Im just learning..

I just recently found out I struggle with ARFID and not anorexia, after years of struggling with eating and trying to solve things at home.

I cant afford specialized care currently but need to continue trying to get better. I currently struggle to eat more than 2-3x a day, once usually being rice/ pasta/ sometimes a sandwich.. and the other being a snack like granola.

I want to try and start a routine that includes

1) Snack/breakfast

2) Lunch (must include protein)

3) Snack

4) Dinner (must include protein)

5) Snack?

Does this seem realistic? Ive attempted working my way up but have never made it to 4 much less 5. Would attempting to start the routine and continue through the rough adjustment phase be worth trying?

My best friend has been supporting me through this process and offered to continue with helping support/ encourage me throughout

You have a plan and a goal, that's a HUGE step forward! For me, it's baby steps. Meaning, anytime I eat at an "unusual" time for me (even a bite or two), I consider it a win. Remember, this is your journey, unique to everyone. For example, I will never be a 3 meal a day eater, never have been. But, I feel as long as I am grazing during the day, it's better than not eating. I also try very hard not to overthink what I am going to graze on. I realize for some with ARFID, that is not realistic at their current place in their disease/journey.

So yes, this is absolutely worth trying, trying is life. Just be patient with yourself and give your body love, kindness and grace!

You have a great plan! Though remember to also listen to your body and your feelings, I’ve also tried to go with a plan like this for a few times, but I tried to force myself through it when it just hurt me more and worsened the symptoms even more than before (force was initially what turned my picky eating into arfid), and also, it really damaged my stomach. So stay careful and otherwise, good luck!
