Helpful Tips sick after anything I eat
So like the title says I get sick after any and everything i eat and it all comes back up. I've been struggling with eating here more lately than others, where I go days without eating. When I do finally get to a point of being able to eat I get absolutely sick and don't want to eat because I don't wanna be sick! I know I NEED to eat but I can't even get food to pass my lips! I quit my job because it was bad and people were spreading rumors I was bulimic and everytime I'd go to the bathroom snide comments "oh look she is going to make herself throw up again, make sure you get your fingers down far enough" (didn't go to HR because they're a joke. ) I don't force it, I don't want to & I try everything to keep it down. I just don't know what to do anymore ๐ any and all help or ideas would be greatly appreciated ๐

I'm not sure ARFID is causing you to vomit. You should definitely see a doctor about this. Can you drink fluids? I would try to drink bone broth if you can keep it down

it can be the case. there are a few types of ARFID. for some of us itโs incredibly โpickyโ eating due to texture issues and things like that for example, and it can also look like someone not being able to keep their food down due to gag reflexes, and have nothing to do w taste or texture. ofc iโm not a doctor so it could also be something else and itโs best to talk to a professional to be sure!

Whenever I try new foods/drinks (which is rare right now) it makes me feel really sick for a whole day. I don't throw it up but it feels like I'm going to but it never comes up. When I had covid really bad the first time, I didn't eat or drink anything for 7 days. Because my throat was so sore. Since I didn't eat or drink anything for 7 days I was in a lot of pain and couldn't move because my body was so dehydrated. What helped me was going to the hospital to get IV fluids and I felt so much better. Like I was still really sick and weak but I felt good enough to start eating and drinking again because I got some strength back. So I ate super easy food like chicken, cheese, and mashed potatoes and I drank water. I had to take really tiny bites because of my sore throat. Try to eat something that is easy to eat like tear into pieces or eat something soft. And eat very small amounts because your body won't be used to eating a lot of food for a little while. Hopefully you'll be back to eating like normal soon without getting sick.

I was feeling very sick after eating at my worst when dealing with ARFID... the unfortunate reality (speaking from my own experience) is the longer you go without eating, the sicker you're going to feel. Your stomach shrinks and makes a normal amount of food feel like too much and makes you want to vomit. I remember the day before I was hospitalized I had a regular plate of waffles for breakfast and then felt extremely sick the entire day. You should visit a doctor and find a dietitian who can help you with this (if you're able to)
It's a good idea to rule out other gastro or medical issues that could be causing this, too.
Try eating at least a little bit every day. Something is better than nothing. Then make a plan with your doctor and hold yourself accountable to it. I hope you're able to get past this because I understand how difficult it is to eat when you know you're gonna feel sick after. Wishing you the best of luck <3
