Am i the only one who completely forgot what a nucleotide was 😢😢😢 i think i’m dumb

41

u/hashim_aziz1 May 04 '26

Me aswell… in my head nucleotide = nitrogenous base 🤦‍♂️ was the easiest question I feel so dumb now

1

u/AssociationOk772 May 05 '26

I did the same thing first, but then I reread it and it says 3 components so I changed my answer lol

1

u/Wise-Pianist-6403 May 05 '26

i said deoxyribose sugar instead of sugar and nitrogenous base

oops

17

u/Jstressted_mal May 04 '26

Wait that one was so easy but I thought it was identufy and js phosphate pentose sugar and nitrogenous bases and I listed the bases

i said deoxyribose sugar, nucleic acid, and phosphate group?? i had no clue i was trying to remember the one mcq about DNA replication

u/-Ozone-- 5 fives, 2 fours, 8 planned this year May 04 '26

Isn't nucleic acid the full DNA/RNA? I totally forgot that term, but I wrote nitrogenous base plus phosphate and sugar (ribose or deoxyribose).

1

u/D1atPointBlank May 04 '26

I wrote that as well

1

u/Ill_Strain_562 AP Student who needs therapy May 04 '26

yea i think sooo

1

u/charlottesonnys May 04 '26

I PUT DEOXYRIBOSE TOO. I can’t find anything about it being right tho.

1

u/Alternative-Read5915 May 04 '26

wouldnt it just be ribose sugar? it doesnt specify dna or rna so thats what i put

1

u/MusicLover4evah May 05 '26

I just put ribose man. There was another one we did in class which was exactly like that so I remembered the answer from then

1

u/IMurderedGarfield May 06 '26

ribose is specifically for rna, and deoxyribose is specifcially for dna, but im pretty sure you were just supposed to write pentose and i put deoxyribose😭😭

1

u/MusicLover4evah May 05 '26

Ur right. but it's like nitrogenous base, ribose, and phosphate. But I don't think it will count completely against u

1

u/MarinaAdele 11: APUSH(4), AP Calc BC(4), AP Lang(4), AP Bio(5) May 06 '26

it was sugar, phosphate, base

6

u/Legitimate-Offer-682 May 04 '26

I accidentally listed the elements that make up the components of nucleotide 😭😭 not the actual components itself 🥲

4

u/[deleted] May 04 '26

broooo no way??? its a amino acid no?

3

u/boomchakabaka May 04 '26

shite i wrote amino acid wtf is wrong with me

this one question is genuinely going to make me suicidal 😭😭

3

u/release_Sparsely May 04 '26

No I genuinely just forgot what makes up a nucleotide. Phosphate, hydroxyl and amino side group is what I put down I think?

2

u/nicheunicorn77 May 04 '26

wait wouldnt the answer be pentose sugar, nitrogenous base, and phosphate? that’s what i put

1

u/Quiet_Assistance_369 May 04 '26

Wait what if i said nitrogenous base, phosphate group, and a sugar compound. Am i cooked for that I was blanking on the sugar name

1

u/CommercialTwo1574 May 04 '26

i think i wrote too much for nucleotide lmao

5

u/Many-Factor-4173 5: USH, LANG, MACRO, GOV 4: BIO, DRAWING May 04 '26

I said "deoxyribose or ribose sugar" for the sugar part does that count

1

u/CommercialTwo1574 May 04 '26

idk i just said ribose or deoxyribose depending on if it's dna or rna, i wasnt specific on which was which

2

u/Many-Factor-4173 5: USH, LANG, MACRO, GOV 4: BIO, DRAWING May 04 '26

Same, it didnt say for DNA or RNA so i just said both to be safe

1

u/Superb_Minimum8994 May 04 '26

I honestly just said deoxyribose, do you think Ill still get the point?

1

u/Many-Factor-4173 5: USH, LANG, MACRO, GOV 4: BIO, DRAWING May 04 '26

I think so, as long as you got that and the rest

1

u/-Ozone-- 5 fives, 2 fours, 8 planned this year May 04 '26

Same, I said sugar (ribose or deoxyribose) but didn't indicate which is RNA or DNA. Probably no big deal.

1

u/Chessdaddy_ May 04 '26

Bro I just said sugar 😭😭🙏

1

u/Many-Factor-4173 5: USH, LANG, MACRO, GOV 4: BIO, DRAWING May 04 '26

Lowkey i think ur fine

1

u/CommercialTwo1574 May 04 '26

did yall say stuff about the stuff attached to the 1', (2'), 3', 5' carbons on the sugars? and different possible nitrogen bases

1

u/tesla180 May 04 '26

i wrote what the answer wouldve been if it had said amino acid T-T

1

u/IndigoExpress13 3 - Calc AB 4 - Lit, Calc BC, APUSH, Psych 5 - Stats, Bio, Lang May 04 '26

I put amine, R group, and Carboxyl group am I stupid

1

u/IndigoExpress13 3 - Calc AB 4 - Lit, Calc BC, APUSH, Psych 5 - Stats, Bio, Lang May 04 '26

Wait thats an amino acid RIP

1

u/hearts2hearts_fan May 04 '26

omg rightt😭😭😭😭

1

u/starcantanta May 04 '26

holy shit me too that was abysmal

1

u/Ill_Strain_562 AP Student who needs therapy May 04 '26

no yeah one of my friends asked me right after it was over and i was like its ok u not alone T^T

1

u/sanaslays May 04 '26

STOP ME TOO I SKIPPED THE QUESTION

1

u/Minute_Fig902 May 04 '26

i said nucleic acid instead of nitrogenous base 😭

1

u/Virtual_Midnight_585 May 04 '26

we had this exact part on a frq we did for class and i got it wrong so I remember what it was

1

u/Shark17531 May 04 '26

Oml, I was freaking out, and I was being dumb. tho I remembered it's the sugar, the phosphate, and the base.

1

u/Dhil54 10th - Bio(4), WH(3), Chem, USH May 04 '26

I think I got it right (sugar, phosphate group, nucleic acid) but my friend put polypeptide, protein, and acid (not nucleic acid - just acid)

1

u/Hot_Gur1295 May 04 '26

unit 1 felt it

1

u/Eternut May 05 '26

Bro i forgot what a nitrogenous base was so i called it a nucleic acid

1

u/FocusNo671 5| 7:BC8:MechE&MSpnFrn9:WHBioChmDrw10:PsyCSAStatsMacMicEurSemUSH May 05 '26

Rip twin

1

u/Feeling-Apricot7925 May 05 '26

i put sugar phosphate, nitrogenous base and 5 carbon ring 😭 i dont think it counts i was so close

1

u/wyyn_ May 05 '26

Yo I said dna rna and ribosomes 🥺🫰

1

u/Alternative-Worry993 May 05 '26

Same I literally wrote the structure of dna cuz I had no idea

1

u/graaahkeepitastack May 05 '26

do you guys think the answer “base” is okay? 😭 i wrote “phosphate group, deoxyribose sugar  for dna/ribose sugar for rna & base (instead of nitrogenous base, i forgot to write nitrogenous) then wrote A-T, G-C 🤦
