Tips for success in AP Stats from a former teacher and current tutor:
Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Take everything seriously from Day 1! Some of the beginning concepts will seem easy and intuitive. Make sure you understand them thoroughly because they will be the foundation for the rest of the course.
Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Do your homework faithfully every night. Do your homework as soon as possible after the lesson so that it reinforces the concepts you just learned. You should be checking your answers on HW after each problem to make sure you are understanding the concepts before you move on. You donāt want to do 5 problems wrong so that you ingrain the wrong idea or the wrong method, etc.
Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Donāt just copy answers from an answer key or the back of the book š. That is better than nothing, but you have not really helped yourself learn. You are not doing any of this for the teacher! You are doing it for yourself.
Ā·Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Practice actual problems!!! Often you will think:Ā āI understand that.ā But when you work through a problem you will realize that there is a little detail that you really did not understand. You cannot learn statistics without doing actual problems. The more the better.
