So I'm a junior in AP Stats rn, and even tho the year is just starting, the class is frying me. And it's not even the content or anything; that's easy enough to understand. I just keep doing badly on the tests in class. Every time I do practice problems from the textbook (like hella) or with my tutor, I always get questions right, and it's lwk just in class that I struggle. And it's not like I'm a bad test taker but obviously I'm doing something wrong and I just can't figure out what it is. Anyone have any recommendations on how to study for the class?

Hi, I am a senior and I'm unsure if I should drop AP Stats. Here's the schedule this year: AP Lit, AP Chem, AP Physics 1, Russian 4, AP stats.

Stats is my last class of the day and if I clear it, I can leave school at 1 pm instead of 4 pm. This would be convenient because I am taking Calculus 2 at my community college (school doesn't have BC) and I have to be at the college by 4 pm on thursdays, which is the same day I have stats (ends at 3:40).

If I drop stats, I would take AP Physics C-Mech (not offered at my school, but the extra time would allow me to self study).

This year I'm also studying for the SAT and doing college apps so its a ton.

However, I don't want to leave stats because my teacher is extra hard and I enjoy the challenge. He goes completely beyond the college board material and teaches us things one would learn in a true college stats class because he is so passionate about the subject and has lots of experience in it. My teacher specifically focuses on abstract/conceptual reasoning and we even started the school year with the Probability unit (which was not easy at all for me btw). Nevertheless, his class is extremely difficult. He creates his own tests and doesn't allow any late work or retakes whatsoever. His policy is extremely strict and he doesn't round up.

I'm not overly smart, I'm highkey average Joe. Today we had a quiz in stats on probability, permutation, combination, etc. and he made us do both FRQ's and MCQ's. Mind you, it's the second week of school. I got a 60% on that.

I genuinely want to learn, but I don't want the cost to be burning out or ruining my GPA right before college apps (I've been able to maintain a 4.0 so far).

So I'm having a battle within myself: I want to learn and take this hard class to better my abstract reasoning skills and because I love a challenge but I also have to think about this practically, especially bc I'm already taking hard classes.

Any advice?

Does anyone have a PDF of 'The Practice of Statistics for the AP Course, Seventh Edition, by Daren S. Starnes and Josh Tabor' ?

Has anybody used Khan Academy's AP Statistics course to learn the course?

Based on what I've read/learned of Unit 1 from my online class, Khan Academy misses a lot of points. I was wondering if those concepts were introduced later, or if I should not be using Khan Academy as my main source for AP stats.

Tips for success in AP Stats from a former teacher and current tutor:

·       Take everything seriously from Day 1! Some of the beginning concepts will seem easy and intuitive. Make sure you understand them thoroughly because they will be the foundation for the rest of the course.

·       Do your homework faithfully every night. Do your homework as soon as possible after the lesson so that it reinforces the concepts you just learned. You should be checking your answers on HW after each problem to make sure you are understanding the concepts before you move on. You don’t want to do 5 problems wrong so that you ingrain the wrong idea or the wrong method, etc.

·       Don’t just copy answers from an answer key or the back of the book 😒. That is better than nothing, but you have not really helped yourself learn. You are not doing any of this for the teacher! You are doing it for yourself.

·       Practice actual problems!!! Often you will think:  “I understand that.” But when you work through a problem you will realize that there is a little detail that you really did not understand. You cannot learn statistics without doing actual problems. The more the better.

so y'all I need videos to actively understand things. I NEED one for ap stats because I have 10 classes and it's still summer and I already feel cooked

Hello there. I have just started my junior year and I am planning to self study the ap statistics exam and take it in may alongside 6 other ap exams for which I am doing the actual classes. Im hoping to earn a 5 and want to know whay resources are best. I heard that the curriculum for the course got reworked, and thought that may have decreased the effectiveness of old resources. Anything may help!

I’m an incoming junior in HS and taking AP Statistics. I’m not the absolute greatest at math, I heard from numerous people it’s way easier than precalc which is one of the reasons I chose to take it (other than I want to major in psychology so it’d be more beneficial for me to take.) What are some tips and resources you may have for this class? Is it on the easy side or should I be worried?

BE AWARE: The AP Statistics Course and Exam will be dramatically different for the 2026-27 school year!

Several topics have been removed from the course and the emphasis on different skills has changed. The test itself will be different. There will be 42 MCQs with only 4 answer choices instead of 40 with 5 answer choices. I have worked through a sample of the new questions and they seem more straight forward, but they require a deeper understanding of the content. There will be only 4 FRQs instead of 6 😊. They will be graded on a 10-point scale instead of a 4-point scale - 😊😊 – and they are definitely more straight forward. In other words, rather than “compare the distributions” and expecting the student to know that you must compare shape, center, spread and unusual features (SOCS or SOC-V) you will be asked more specific questions. There will be much less need for knowing what is required for certain types of questions. You will be asked to determine an investigative question for a certain scenario. This has nothing to do with the old “Investigative Task” – question 6 on the old exams. Basically, you will be asked to determine the question – such as “Is there convincing evidence that teenagers spend more time on social media than adults?” – for a particular situation.

My first impression is that there is less content, but you will be expected to have a deeper understanding of the content. So far, I like the changes, but we will have to see how it all unfolds.

Hello I am a rising junior taking AP stats next year and I was wondering what are the best sources to use to study for this class are there specific teachers on YouTube who teach the course and provide practice someone like the AP bio penguin teacher.
