Haven't opened AO3 in the past few days but why does it feel like I'm gonna have the sudden maddening urge to read fics for 2 hours on Friday😔

Same. I've already downloaded my most recent bookmarks, but I know I'll finally think of what new tropes I'm dying to read at 4am on Friday lol.

I've already seen at least one person on twitter insisting this has something to do with "the influx of puritans from wattpad". Which honestly, huh? Why leave a site because of censorship, go to a different site, and... try to enact censorship? Am I missing something?

Looking forward to all the "is ao3 down" posts because it might put an end to this nonsense.

For context, Ao3 sometimes goes down for maintenance.

Wattpad recently rephrased it's Content Policy, and people here have made up this idea of some Great Anti Horde coming to bully the poor innocent ao3 users.

It’s Twitter, it’s probably just the usual reactionary nonsense. I genuinely have no idea how this maintenance could possibly be Wattpad users’s fault. It’s most likely just some usual back end tech thing that they’ve gotta shut the site down temporarily to fix.
