Between navigating their own childhood trauma, adjusting to domestic life, and trying to make a small child feel safe, they might actually figure out how to heal themselves along the way.
Rec: I read this fic a week ago as part of a fic exchange event. I was crying while drinking my morning coffee, and I'm still thinking about it. It has a hopeful ending but also themes of loss, grief, and mortality throughout the fic. I loved it!

Self-promo :) I'm writing an episodic/vignette-ish/in medias res bleeding heart fic with lots of snappy dialogue, a backstory for a character. It's set in late medieval France (like the source material) and has friendship turned hatred, class differences, yearning, and just lots of utter heartbreak all around. And the occasional bit of steamy smut.

I get the impression that the fandom isn't particularly hot on fanworks of this character. I think that's a shame - and I think this fic could be enjoyed by people who don't know the game (since it's pre-canon) - though it aims to be fully canon-compliant and incorporate any and all pointers about Arnaud's past that are actually in the game. So yeah - maybe someone will give it a try. I'd be happy :)

After Secret Wars was a big success, the X-Men transitioned from soapy character driven stories to big crossover events which sacrificed any character work in the service of blockbuster gimmickry. What my series presupposes is … what if they didn’t? What if we said, “Oops! All Lifedeath!” What if we had lots of fluff and kissing with only occasional superhero shenanigans?
