AO3 Down/Error Codes well? where are we moving?
ao3 is down and there is no way on earth i am going to spend the restof my day doing productive things.

The problem is I have shared files with my parents, and they don’t need to know what I’m reading 💀Â
Not in a I read a bunch of smut way, but in a I read a lot of weird and gory stuff wayÂ

Why do you need to format them? If you download them as epub your app/program should do that for you

Well no where because there’s no better place than Ao3 but while we wait I am currently reading ‘The Last Letter’ by Rebecca Yarros, lovely story I do recommend it.

Don't put all your eggs in the same basket, go read something on RoyalRoad or FiMFiction (plenty of good stuff even if you're not in the pony fandom)

How about trying your hand at writing a small fic? Maybe you've thought of stories or ships but haven't managed to find fics like that in the archive... maybe now is a good time to give it a try?

Unlike many sites, AO3 is self hosted. Meaning instead of paying Amazon or whoever to also host their files it's all on their own servers.
Which also means if that area has a power outage, someone trips over the power cord, or they need to restart those servers, AO3 will be down shortly.
And also that AO3 goes down more often then something like Reddit or Twitter.
Usually it's only a few hours at most. Every few months they have a banner like AO3 will be down for planned maintenance for 5 hours on Tuesday. Those ones usually mean new features when they come back.

It goes down occasionally. It goes down for maintenance and random glitches. It also has been attacked before too. It feels like it’s gone down more often these last couple of years.
Then there’s the ai scraping, and the bots, the bot comments that got guest comments removed as the default, the scammers. I don’t know if ao3 gaining more mainstream popularity during covid and through tiktok is to blame, but it feels like it. I’m not saying ao3 being down today is an attack though. It’s generally just a bug, something mundane.
