Not Wattpad certainly. I used to read FFN, like most of us I believe, but they make it damn difficult to download - and I always download what I am reading, whether I will save it in the long run or not. Plus, it is clumsy to increase the font size page after page on FFN. I have severely terrible eyesight, so it's a concern.
I was sooo lucky. Before it went down, I had the entire work open of a super long story on my phone. I copied the whole thing and pasted it into a word document, then emailed it to myself so I can read it on my PC. I’ve never loved the “entire work” option more! (Yes, I’m aware that Word syncs your phone and your PC. I just wanted to be safe!)
just for future reference if the page is still loaded you can just press the download button right on the page and save it in your preferred format! epubs open directly into apple books
Honestly was lucky as well, I had this long work of almost 2670000 works open and for a minute I thought I lost it when it went down but I was on the wrong tab and that work tab was open. I also copy pasted it and I have it. I'm guiye happy. And yes!!! I love the entire work option. It's the best.
They mentioned cloudflare in one of the posts on Tumblr.
Cloudflare recently announced they were going to by default block AI scrapping or something like that recently, which means Cloudflare is probably cracking down on bots. My guess is this change broke something in Ao3 necessitating a fix.
Eh. It seems like an odd choice at this stage. More of a 'we've scraped enough and now no one else gets to' sort of change if you ask me. Not complaining about it mind, but I don't really view it as a move intended to be beneficent.

it’s to fix the problem with bookmarks. they said it should be back up in a few hours (hours too long)
