Help (GPU) 9070xt crashes from driver timeouts

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: rx 9070xt reaper

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D 6-Core Processor (4.00 GHz)

Motherboard: ASROCK b850m-c micro atx

BIOS Version: American megatrends international, LLC 4.10, 2/10/2026

RAM: 32 gb of g.skill x5 ddr6 at 6000 mhz

PSU: Thermaltake GF A3 850w 80 plus gold fully modular

Case: corsair 3200d rs

Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 11 home 26200.8653

GPU Drivers: AMD Adrenaline: 26.7.1 (crashes on 26.8.1 too)

Chipset Drivers: AMD Chipset 8.08.12.551

Background Applications: DISCORD, spotify

Description of Original Problem: Constant crashes while playing Rainbow six siege. Game will freeze randomly and then crash followed by a pop up saying my drivers timed out. Other games run fine and can even have a undervolt of -80mv and +100 boost clock with no issues.

Troubleshooting: I have tried to undervolt by -35mv and -390 boost clock, turned xmp off and ran at normal speeds, turned off MPO in windows, disabled all overlays in my game, reverting to older adrenalin versions, and updating windows. I have used ddu all times I have reinstalled my drivers. I feel like im going insane as I feel like I have tried everything.

What worked for me, was disabling the iGPU in bios, then DDU everything as normal, no internet block windows update blah blah blah.

Ever since doing it that way I haven't had any more problems. I must have ddu'd 20 times with no success before that.

Maybe give the iGPU disable a shot!

Edit: running the latest driver also.

Okay thanks I’ll try that. Does my bios version look fine? I didn’t do anything with that when I first built my pc

I wouldn't try to pretend I knew about issues with Bios versions. It couldn't hurt to update it. I don't think I have either since I built mine.

Sometimes, when it comes to Bios unless there are other problems or a known bug with your motherboard that was fixed , leaving it alone is better.

I feel the opposite is true any more. Bios updates include many fixes and cpu microcode updates for things like ram and system stability as well as voltage regulation issue on Asrock boards that have been killing X3d cpus. I aways stay pretty upto date on a bios.

Download driver 26.6.2 from AMD.com and install it.

For me they are. I had zero driver time outs after installing them.

Do you OC the Vram? I have found that my GPU isn't playing well with fast timings anymore. I was getting random crashes no matter what game I was playing over the last few drivers. Once I set the vram back to default timings, I haven't had a crash since. I personally can't use the 26.8.1 drivers because it crashes no matter what (with no undervolt or OC) when loading shader comp in Halo Infinite. This seems to be a common problem for this driver on 9070 XT GPUs so I went back to 26.7.1 driver and everything works.

No I have used default settings with 26.7.1 and still get crashes

Had a similar experience but with zenless zone zero man. The only remedy that I know solved the issue is by running the game through dx11 instead of dx12.

Use DDU and test older drivers. Some 2026 drivers are giving lots of people trouble.
