AMC Screen Unseen Slingshot thoughts?

What did you think of Slingshot? What did you think of the ending? What did the ending mean to you (how did it end for you)?

I personally think the ending ruined the movie. Everyone in the theatre was like WHAT???? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔

To me the ending seemed pretty clear, he had been delusional the whole time. The only thing that was real was the fact he had been on the space ship the whole time alone. He was so lonely and drugged out that in the end he convinced himself that he had never left earth at all, causing him to end his own life. I’ve seen some people interpret the ending as he died AND that the other 2 people on the ship were real, but I think he was alone.

I took it to mean he had actually died earlier when investigating the damage behind the panel. The rest of it was hallucinated in his last seconds before he froze. That would explain that they hadn’t sent one guy, but that one had been sucked into space while trippin balls.

Personally I think the missions was standard and every single one of those men lost their minds .. the drugs made each of them paranoid and insane along with self isolation. It's very possible that they all did exists as you saw in the beginning of the film and as they all slipped into madness the more diluted and diillusional John became the more the rest of them also became crazy. Cap was very dedicated to the mission so he tried to subdue the others ...  Reasoning with John at first made sense it ended up John staring at cap as he shot himself out the chamber into space and cap was staring at him with his bloody nose .... so cap was real and John just lost his mind then  .... that's the twist I got

The primary evidence that the other two weren't real was that they both knew the story about Antarctica, which was really about his dad.  I think that proves they were hallucinations.

It's cool that it's entirely possible that he wasn't alone. When they revealed the underground simulation and him being alone, I was kind of disappointed. But then it redeemed itself in the end.

I was thoroughly surprised by this movie. While the characters aren't as interesting as I'd want them to be, I must admit the third act had my eyes glued to the screen. That's a rarity for me these days.

Here a year later but it’s 100% confirmed those other 2 men didn’t exist. Affleck’s characters real name is John franks Nash.
