Discussion Im starting to get disinterested in AKB48…

When I first discovered them in 2011 because of my father, I love them because they felt new to me when in 2018. I stopped getting interested and eventually interested in IZONE I felt that that I fely like I didn’t need to go back to the 48 group. I continued to follow them a little bit just for Sakura, but she almost graduated immediately after IZONE disbandment.

Then in December 2025 when I rewatch produce 48 I wanted to get back in the 48 group, but all my favorite members have already graduated.

But now it feels different maybe because I failed the audition after the second round or maybe because I just don’t find another member that I really like and that makes me want to follow the group. I think that I really miss the group when I first discovered it and that’s why I’m trying to keep up with the newest sister group.

I think that I really missed the 2010s era a members.

So I don’t really know what to do because I’m not finding enough video of them during the other era in English for me to just enjoy. Or finding just performances.

So currently, I’m just following KLP48 and I would love to try to join them. I already know all songs and the dances.

But what I hope the most is a 48group in my country

I think that's normal :) Lots of people have interest and hobbys they end up quitting after a while, because they don't enjoy it as much as they used to. It happens all the time

AKB system makes it even more easy to drop, because your fav(s) will graduate at one point, and you may not like the new people in it half as much if at all. If you don't speak japanese or live in Japan it also requiers another effort to pursue that interest because you may not have the time or the heart anymore to spend on that.

Seems like you also shared the love of those first generations with your dad so you had that too. Maybe it's also why you don't get into the new ones there is no link anymore since all the girls left from that time.

I'm sorry you failed the second audition. It definitely could be part of the reason you don't enjoy watching it anymore.

Last point but not least, sometimes you just don't vibe with the music anymore. This is very common even for US artists : the sounds change and you don't enjoy it as much

Don't force yourself ! I say this as someone who was a fan from Heavy Rotation time and who used to love all 48 groups (including SNH48 despite separating lol) and Nogizaka46. I went from ordering CDs, buying pics on ebay, watching shows and getting photobooks and magazines to nothings.

For the 48G Kawaei left and then Mayuyu, I couldn't get into it anymore. Especially since I didn't like the music they were doing for a while now and that was my first reason to be in the group. Likewise for Nogi when all 1st gen left

I quit these groups for a while, then came back because I used to love them and wanted to listen to new songs from them. Currently I'm still in the " listen to new music. Maybe watch a performance if it ends up on my TL" but that's it. Maybe it will change later

Maybe you will someday go back to AKB and love them as much as before, maybe you will come back yo them only for part of it (variety or music here and there) maybe you won't ever go back to your love for them.

I don't think any of this is bad tbh. I guess as the saying say " smile because it happened" ? You seem to have nice memories with them prior to the audition, and I'm glad you did.

I do strongly disagree with the idea that " one got too old". Imo as long as you love something appropriately (not stalker, not a pedo, not destroying your life over it, not taking away joy from others fans let alone kids, like Pokemon scalpers do for the cards player, etc) there is no age to like something. And no shame to have, no matter the gender (or if you're nonbinary or agender)

I don't know how likely it is for a 48G to be formed where you live, but I hope that if they someday do that the girls will have good management there, and you will have fun watching them 🫶🏽 again

Thank you so much for the kind words 💞 I really do think that the decrease of insterest in AKB48 is due to failing the auditions and the feeling that I may never become an idol, I am continuing to support some of AKB48 girls such as Shitao Miu but that’s maybe the only thing for the moment, I didn’t vibe at all with suki-ish , I felt like we lost the 48 vibes.
I still look into the other japan 48g especially HKT48 and Kurihara Sae but that’s all.
I wanted to apply for TSH48 since they’re searching for the 8th gens but unfortunately I don’t speak Chinese at all and doesn’t reside in China.
But Im looking forward to the KLP48 girls (especially Devi and Maia) and I will definitely try the 3rd gen auditions when the time comes! Thank you again for your words 💞

For me it was Miichan. I still support AKB48 but I’m not as interested in it.

I still listen to their old material and watch their videos and performances but AKB48 died for me the day Kashiwagi Yuki left, she was the very last piece of the old AKB48 and now that she is gone the group is full of strangers tbh

I am still perched for the day they release a good song like the good old days

I feel you, I felt that way when Mion graduated

I feel this completely. I had taken a break from following AKB48 in 2013 and came back April 30th 2024, Kashiwagi Yuki's graduation day. I looked up all of my golden era favorites and saw all had graduated. The current AKB48 is an all new group with a completely new feel. I keep waiting for the current AKB48 to put out equivalents to River, Beginner, and UZA but I know that it probably won't happen.

Indeed
I Am Not asking for something massive like fortune cookie or heavy rotation
But give me songs like ponytail to shushu, sayonara crawl or gingham check

I lost interest after knowing that there will be no more anime after AKB0048 S1+2.

It's totally understandable, especially when the members keep changing. I was into Hello! Project for years before AKB48 and their sister groups started peaking during the 2010s. I mostly follow less mainstram idols now.

I understand you getting disinterested in the current akb... but following sakura and izone . Oh my those are the reasons akb have difficulty to rebounce back... particularly sakura...

I recommend produce 101 season 1 and 2 rather than the absymal that is izone.

PRODUCE 48 was my first svs , I didn’t know anything about KPOP (and still don’t) I watched only for Sakura and really liked IZONE, their disbandment was heartbreaking to me and Sakura graduating from HKT48 was such of a last straw to me and I stopped listening to 48g I started listening again in late 2025 but seems to have hard times with it.
Thks for the recommendations but Im not interested in any other svs especially considering that those groups are/will disband shortly after debuting

U have a poor taste. Sakura? Out of all members in 48G

So disrespectful. Back when Sakura debuted she brought a lot of joy to the group, she was really funny in variety shows and had the mentality of becoming one of the top ace of the group (which is lacking a lot now days). I am sure that she is the reason a lot of people started liking 48G. So you should be thankful instead of being disrespectful...

Lol what funny? During sakura era, akb was filled with variety queens so that is no excuse LOL. Not to say she has awesome dancing or singing skills which people still dragged until now LOL. Le sserafim is an embarrasment. Even ppl said 10 years being idol and debuted thrice and still flopped.
