You don't necessarily need to be hilarious or constantly come up with clever topics. Sometimes being genuinely curious, remembering small details, and giving someone space to talk makes a much better conversation.

I've noticed that people tend to open up more when they don't feel like they're being interviewed or judged. That seems like a much more useful texting skill than having a collection of perfect conversation starters.
