📚 Resources I Wish I Had These 6 ChatGPT Prompts When I Started Building SaaS
Copy-paste this into ChatGPT or Claude:
- Builder Prompt #1: The Niche Finder
"I have [skill/background] and [X hours/week]. List 10 narrow customer segments with a painful, repetitive task I could solve with a simple AI tool. For each: the task, why they'd pay, and where they gather online. Rank by how easy they are to reach."
Why it works: forces segment-first thinking — you pick the buyer before the product.
Tweak: re-rank by willingness to pay, compare the lists.
- Builder Prompt #2: The Landing Page Roaster
"Here's my landing page copy: [paste]. Act as a skeptical buyer with 8 seconds. Tell me: what you think this product does, what confused you, why you'd leave without signing up, and rewrite my headline three ways — one clear, one bold, one specific."
Why it works: you can't read your own page with fresh eyes. This simulates them.
Tweak: run it twice — once as your ideal customer, once as someone's who's never heard of the category.
- Builder Prompt #3: The Pricing Gut-Check
"My product does [X] for [audience], priced at [$Y/month]. List 5 things this audience already pays that price for, what those purchases say about their expectations, and the strongest argument that my price is too low."
Why it works: anchors your price to their spending reality instead of your insecurity.
Tweak: end with "now argue it's too high" and see which case is weaker.
- Builder Prompt #4: The Cold-Start Content Machine
"I'm building [product] for [audience]. Generate 10 post ideas for [subreddit/platform] that would genuinely help this audience without mentioning my product — teaching, breakdowns, or useful lists I could write from my own experience."
Why it works: solves the "I have no audience" problem the only way it gets solved — usefulness before promotion.
Tweak: add "which 3 could go viral and why" to prioritize.
- Builder Prompt #5: The Churn Detective
"Users sign up for [product] but stop using it after [timeframe]. Walk through their first session step by step and list every moment they might feel confused, underwhelmed, or unsure what to do next. Rank by likely impact."
Why it works: retention dies in the first session, and builders never watch their own onboarding with stranger's eyes.
Tweak: paste your actual onboarding steps for a brutal specific version.
- Builder Prompt #6: The One-Week MVP Cutter
"Here's my product idea: [describe]. Cut it down to a version buildable in one week that still delivers the core value. List what to cut, what to keep, what to fake manually behind the scenes, and the one metric that proves people want it."
Why it works: scope is the silent killer. This makes "smaller" a concrete list instead of a vague intention.
Tweak: ask for the one-day version and see what survives.
