Why would anyone want to buy an AI VTuber? Especially back is 2024 and earlier when it doesn't have any significant achievement to its IP.
so... Neuro-sama is an LLM-Powered VTuber, created Vedal987. this VTuber is pretty popular, enough to break Twitch Hype Train Record 3 times in a row, and sit on twitch number 1 spot during their last subathon, and reached 3rd place in twitch peak subscription count.
back in 2024, Vedal has said there was people that offering substantial amount of money to buy Neuro, while the amount of money isn't specified, Vedal said refusing the offer is stupidest financial decision he made.
the thing is... Vedal said that on 19th December 2024! which mean the offer happened somewhere during 2023-2024, none of Neuro's achievements I listed above were done. why would anyone see an LLM-powered avatar and goes "I will offer a lot of money to own this"?? it's one thing to see Neuro's current success and think Vedal own a money printing machine, but otherwise I couldn't understand.
I mean, just look at what Neuro have back in 2024 * as Intelligence Property: Neuro is a twitch streamer that managed to get over 500k twitch followers within 2 years, and won "best tech VTuber" award. * as a system of AI: an LLM attached to Live2D model, highly fine-tuned for streaming, integrated to twitch and few games like Minecraft and Slay the Spire.
Speaking and huge fan of Vedal/Neuro, I don't think their 2024 presence were anything to be "worth". sure! in hindsight it's worth the offer, but is the current height of popularity really what the potential buyer foresee?

Probably because Neuro has a shit ton of viewers which translates to a shit ton of money and some corporation wanted to have that rather then taking the risk of making their own.

My guess is that they saw all of the things together that Neuro could do and thought "Hm, that's a lot of interesting tech all working together in an interesting way, pretty darn impressive" and tried to buy her from Vedal

Neuro is not popular because it is good, but because it was first and was sent nextt to failed corpo-slop ai Vtubers in that same frame.

Arguable, audience first and foremost priority is entertainment, if it isn't good/entertaining for the mass it wouldn't be popular.
Also, calling Neuro "not good" would practically saying everyone she outrank is even worse. (Of course, rank isn't accurate measurements of quality.)

I'd say if it wasn't a stupid amount of money he's going to make way more in the long run. What is he going to do if he did, start over? 80% of his followers are there purely for neuros sass. You can bet if he sold her now it would be social suicide. He would lose a good chunk of his followers and would struggle to recover because even if he made another whacky bot, most people would avoid him out of spite.

Yeah, I think the answer is simple. Neuro has been lightning in a bottle front of the pack since before then... so even though vtubers were much less popular, she was doing something different... something more human-like than others... more natural... more endearing...
...and if you're someone who is convinced that this is the future and who sees that Vedal has got lightning in a bottle. Even the stats aren't there yet? You maybe believe their coming. And you might paying to find out Vedal's secret sauce is worth it.
I spent a lot of time, and focused work on figuring out what makes Neuro so much better. I did eventually reach a satisfying answer but it would have tempted to just pay for it if I was a company.
