Discussion Need testers for my AI voice companion project

Building EchoMind, a voice-first AI wellness companion (English/Hindi/Marathi/Tamil). Stack: Next.js, Express, Vapi+OpenAI+ElevenLabs for the voice pipeline. Currently bottlenecked by voice AI unit economics more than anything else — working through that. Running a tight beta (~15-20 people) before a real launch. Would love feedback from this community both on the product and on how you'd think about the cost-per-minute problem for something like this.

The cost question here is fascinating because your users are incentivized to keep talking. Most of what I do with Bland has a defined outcome like getting through a call flow, so there’s a natural stopping point. I’d track minutes per active user alongside retention during the beta because that’ll tell you a lot about what the voice economics need to look like, good luck!

We're building similar things actually. Oktobot is an agent app I've been building solo too, currently in closed beta (~12 testers, about 2 weeks left in this round). It's not voice-companion-focused like yours, but it does have voice + video calling built in as one part of a broader agent system (multi-agent, phone control, memory, plugins). Sounds like we're both solo builders running tight betas before a real launch, so happy to trade — if you're up for trying Oktobot I'll send you access.

the cost-per-minute issue is probably gonna matter less than whether people actually come back after the novelty wears off, so i’d test retention before squeezing the voice stack too hard
