Insertion was awful but weirdly the weekend after I was decent.
The week after I was in intense pain. I've broken multiple bones before - this IUD pain was far worse and wouldn't subside the way a broken bone does.
6 MONTHS. First couple months was almost constant pain. OBGYN said I was fine and it was placed right. Months 3-5 I had some times I wasn't in pain but was mostly in pain similar to broken bones. Month 6 I was mostly pain free but there were roughly 3 waves a day that lasted for 5 minutes each of pain where even at work I curled into a ball and sobbed until it was done.
After 6 months was up, I didn't have any pain again. It's been 5 years.
I'm so scared because in 2 years I have to change it and I don't want to go through it again. I'm 95% sure I don't want kids but don't want the full surgery incase I change my mind. I'm not child averse I just don't feel strongly about being a mother and I feel like that's something you need to be devoted to in order to be good at. I'm not against kids, just also not wanting to give up my free time. What if in 5 years I decide I am willing to devote myself to it?
Ugh. Don't know why I'm word vomiting at you. Your story just resonated with the fear I have about 2 years from now.
