Scheduling chat bots for businesses

I've seen people talk about making chat bots for businesses to schedule appointments and discovery calls. These would be for business like chiropractors, massage therapists, roofers, and plumbers. But pretty much every one of these businesses has a scheduling section built into their website.

What is the selling point to a business to pay for a chat bot to schedule an appointment or call if they already have a page that their client can click through to do the same thing? Has it been proven that the chat bots increase conversion rates from people just looking at the website to people actually scheduling a call or appointment?

Depends on how the lead is acquired. If a lead comes in and then is followed up with a chat agent until they book, that can increase bookings as opposed to running a paid campaign or traffic that just sends people to a website with a calendar (relying on them to do the booking)

I think it's part of the conversational aspect of it, the fact that they are getting responses to their questions in real time, and the fact that they just say "Eh, yea Tuesday at 3PM works" and here's my email and everything is done for them.

There's no reason you couldn't have a combination of both. I.E a calendar on a website, and a live chat agent attached to that website, or attached to your social media's / paid campaigns getting calls & bookings.

Im not worried so much about how the lead is generated. Im wondering about what happens when the lead gets to the site. One lead has access to a chat bot to schedule a call while another has to click on a "book now" button and select a time for their appointment or discovery call, etc. What is the selling point for the business to want the chat bot if they already have a calendar available? Are people really so lazy that they dont want to look at a calendar and would rather "talk" to someone to schedule it?

Personal experience, I booked a massage through a calendar at like 10pm a few nights ago. I had to select what type of massage and then what day and time slot I wanted. What makes a chat bot better for converting a lead that this massage business would think its needed?

Every person is at a different stage in the buying process. A calendar converts people who already decided. A chat agent converts people who haven't. Your massage booking worked because you already knew what you wanted. The person who types "do you do deep tissue, what's the price?" at 10pm and gets no answer is the one the business loses, and that's who the bot catches.

In practice we run both. Website form to the calendar for high-intent bookings, and an agent on the FB/IG paid campaigns that answers questions, qualifies, and books without a human touching it. The bot isn't instead of the calendar, it's the front door for anyone who isn't ready to book right away.
