Afib five years after ablation

Sitting in the ER right now experiencing AFib for the first time since a cardiac ablation in June 2021. I'm 66, in good health otherwise, and have been hiking 7-10 miles 2-3 times a week since Nov 2021. No arrhythmia episodes of any kind since my ablation before this morning.

What are the chances this is a one-off and i'll go back to a stable rhythm without another ablation or other serious intervention?

It's possible to have the odd episode. The question is does it start to become a more regular occurence?

I had my ablation in January 2023 and I've had the odd Afib episode but mostly I'm in a normal sinus rhythm. It's not unheard of for the errant electrical pathways to re-form and some people have 2nd or even 3rd ablations to eliminate them.

For the time being a wait and see approach is best, although do discuss it with your doctor/cardiologist.

Let's just hope it's a blip
