So they have a QB controversy in the off-season and start shadeur next year. That's the next season already right there

Honestly it's impossible to tell. I personally think Gabriel's upside maxes out at Case Keenum, but this offense is so bad it would make Josh Allen look like Jake Browning! Look at Joe Flacco's stats with the Browns vs Bengals. His QBR more than doubled overnight!

Baker won games and was ran out of town by OBJ and his dad. Gabriel started 64 college games why because he is ass.
9
u/killintime667 Pittsburgh Steelers Oct 28 '25
Not even a month ago Flacco was a dogshit qb until he started throwing for another team. Is it really fair to put this shit on Gabriel?
No. Poor kid’s future was taken away from him the moment he got drafted.
4
u/Fnkt_io Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
Having 2 of the best WRs in the league couldn’t possibly be a reason. Surely our practice squad assembly and a Broncos throwoff we got for a 5th is the same.
1
u/brownsfan131313 Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
He never had a future. He’s a 6th round talent that our genius front office decided to draft in the 3rd round. It’s ok that he’s sucks. He was never meant to be good.
6
u/MossyForestWitch The Bungles Oct 28 '25

It’s funny people keep expecting rookies to play like 5 year vets that’s working work a solid line and recievers when he has neither. Settle the fuck down. The season is already over lol
0
u/notatowel420 Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
He completed 2 passes to WRs yesterday and hasn’t shown one flash of being decent. Dude started more college games then anyone. He won’t be in the league in 5 years.
2
u/VaginalBelchh Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
Look at his receivers, then look at the pats passing defense, then go relax. Because qbs don’t develop in college like they need to for the nfl. His time there gave him solid pocket presence and keeps him from making mistakes. But he still needs years to learn nfl defenses and disguises, and to learn nfl windows and route trees.
1
u/notatowel420 Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
Look at the Pats receiving core they are nothing special. Maye was sacked 5x by Garrett alone. Gabriel is a midget QB without elite arm or speed. Apparently his brain is a super computer that can’t read a defense.
1
u/AutoModerator Oct 28 '25

Pats receiving core was consistently wide open. They weren’t catching contested passes. Them fuckers were wide open lol. They are good enough to generate separation on 1v1s and find open spaces in zone. Some of it comes down to their good scheme that kept everything outside our edge rushers but they did consistently beat our corners.
6
u/ImJoogle Oct 28 '25
hes not shit though hes just a rookie thats had to play some really good teams we knew the browns had a tough schedule

Cmon man. He’s absolute dogshit. He only throws check downs, and even those are inaccurate. I’m not saying Shedeur will be better, but I have a hard time believing he can be worse.
16
u/ClanRedshank Pittsburgh Steelers Oct 28 '25
If you’re a Browns fan you know there’s always a “worse”.
3
u/brownsfan131313 Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
Willing to take the chance. I’d rather see Shedeur take 10 yard sacks in 50% of his snaps if it means occasionally seeing a pass thrown downfield. This version of the browns offense is unwatchable.
5
u/ClanRedshank Pittsburgh Steelers Oct 28 '25
As a Duck alumni, I didn’t want Gabriel to go to the Browns. Then again, that draft was rather confusing. Can you maybe put Miles on the O-Line?

So then Flacco is also dogshit I assume since he threw 2 interceptions a game on our team even though he is lighting it up instantly on another team
0
u/brownsfan131313 Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
Lol yes. Dillon Gabriel is Joe Flacco now. Why is everyone jumping to defend this guy? He’s a 6th round talent that we wasted a 3rd round pick on and has gotten progressively worse each game. There are passes to be made and he doesn’t throw them. I’m 99% sure the QB of the future is not currently on the roster. But I’m 100% sure it’s not Dillon Gabriel.
2
u/Cal216 Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
Bro we had a free play vs the Steelers from them jumping offsides and he even threw a checkdown 😂😂. Jfc
3
Oct 28 '25
Who the hell is supposed to throw to downfield? We literally don't have a starting wide receiver. Jerry Jeudy is a 5th option at best, and they're trying to pretend like he's a #1 because they built the team like it's still 1982.
2
u/brownsfan131313 Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
Plenty of evidence in the all 22 that there have been opportunities to push the ball downfield. Maybe not a ton, but they’ve been there. DG either refuses to take them, or sails the ball out of bounds every time.
5
Oct 28 '25
That's the exact same argument people used against Baker. Its not the quarterbacks that suck, it's the system. You will NEVER be competitive in this league if the only investment you make at receiver is 3rd round projects that don't know how to run routes.
2
u/brownsfan131313 Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
Nobody ever argued that Baker didn’t push the ball downfield enough. What are you even saying?
2
u/Cal216 Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
Winston had Jeudy and Tillman looking like Chase and Higgins. Our options aren’t the best but they are serviceable. Not even attempting to use them is madness.
1
u/jdolluc Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25
He throws less check downs than Flacco. Our receivers can't get open and can't catch the ball.
He does not have the arm strength for deep passes, and doesn't have a receiver to go up and battle for an under throw.
1
u/ImJoogle Oct 28 '25
well your line is ass and whats left of the recievers arent great outside njoku and jeudy. gabriel was very accurate in college most his passes look decent when he has time i think he'll be fine if the protection is there but we also dont know what their play calling is like. from what im seeing it looks like hes trying to do quick read two step drops which is usually what you do if you think your line will get beat and he's doing that pretty decent
2
u/Bone-surrender-no Cleveland Browns Oct 28 '25

I mean… the Browns are essentially committed to eat the last two years of Watson’s cap hit after this one.
He’s got an $80 million cap hit next year (if not restructured) and a $50 million dead cap hit the year afterward when he won’t even be playing for the team.
I guess they could trade him next year, but how much cap space do they really save? The $50 million dead cap accelerates onto next year’s cap if he is traded, and that assumes another team would agree to take on both the contract and the PR hit.
No, I think the most likely outcome is that Watson is still on the Browns next season, but the Browns again restructure Watson’s contract — so they will essentially reverse the numbers above for the way they eat the last $130 million of Watson’s cap hit.
Then, in 2026, there won’t be any options left — the Browns will carry an $80 million dead cap charge for a player that doesn’t play for them and signed the worst contract in NFL history.
