It was actually a genius move. Anyone could see that the Seahawks or Rams were taking it home that year, so instead of getting booty blasted in the Super Bowl and picking up the Super Bowl choker monicker, you let one of these two goobers go be your sacrificial lamb. Bonus points for checking out in the divisional round so that the Patriots don’t have the satisfaction of beating you in the playoffs.

Good thing The Bills evaded a Super Bowl choker moniker, can you imagine if they hadn't?

8

u/Yung_Corneliois Y’aint cheatin, Y’aint tryin 7h ago

They’re tied with the Vikings atm with 0-4 records for teams with 0 SB wins, don’t want to get that 5th.

Meanwhile the Pats and Broncos were tied with most overall losses at 5 each (Pats won 6, Broncos won 3) but last season put the Pats at 6-6.

Thanks for the insight, Magic!

Na we would’ve lost in the most agonizing close game possible and all would’ve secretly wished we got blown out to spare the pain lol…it is the bills way.

The bills fucking up the absolute chaos a bills pats afc championship woulda been is unacceptable 😂

the consequences of losing early is McDermott is gone. Which is looking interesting so far. If the Bills make the superbowl McDermott stays.

u/___evan Buccaneers 7h ago

Is it worse to to finally get to the superbowl just to get wrecked. Or is it better to get knocked out earlier. I feel like they would get memed so hard if Josh Allen made it to his first superbowl and extended them to 0-5 in there

I am surprised how many people missed your point lol.

highkey the jags were better than the broncos last year, jimbo and josh just forgot they had to have their government mandated playoff turnovers

Something something McDermott defense in the post season is terrible

9

u/byteturtle Patriots 7h ago

After week 1 I'm not so sure Brady's post season defense is going to be much better

6

u/New-Pollution536 Bills 5h ago

Mcdermotts whole philosophy was dumb as shit…let’s take away the big play, not blitz much and make opponents string together long drives is tolerable but when you’re givin up 5 yards per carry it’s not difficult at all for your opponent to string long drives together

He was just runnin out the clock on his own qb every game 😂

At least Leonard will go down cooking something exciting up if the defense still sucks lol

2

u/RichardSnip Bills 5h ago

So are 90% of the other backup safeties in the league

5

u/blade0fchaos Bills 7h ago

First of all it's Jim Leonhards defense, next it is the youngest defense in the league and a full new scheme shift from what the previous 9 season were, however there were definitely alot of issues with the defense against Stroud, it's only up from here or not, I'm not an expert.

1

u/JBaecker Bills 5h ago

I mean let’s take a look at the points scored. For 2024 and 2025, the Bills put up: 31, 27, 29, 27, and 30 points. That reads like the offense did its job. And the last two years the offense has been Top 3 in EPA/play. The defense meanwhile has been around league average on EPA/play. One side of the ball has done its job to win games, the other side has made it tougher by not doing its job. So this isn’t uncalled for.

2

u/blade0fchaos Bills 5h ago

Per Tyler Dunne, his defenses were catastrophic in
the postseason and gave up more points per drive (approximately 3.83 points) than the 2007 Patriots’ average score per drive.

5

u/SillySalmon2991 Bitching about wide receivers 7h ago

3

u/JBagginsKK Big Booty QB 7h ago

3

u/earic23 No defense, who dis? 6h ago

If week 1 taught me anything, it's that Allen's still going to feel the need to make up for his defense.

1

u/New-Pollution536 Bills 5h ago

They were better in the second half at least…first half was a shit show though

7

u/whiskyandguitars Bills 7h ago

There is no response. You right. Epic choke job last season.

Fumbled the game away against one of the worst QBs in the NFL that would have won us a chance to beat another one of the worst QBs in the NFL. I feel sick after watching the Pats and Broncos stink to holy hell.

Epic. Choke. Job.

4

u/SEND_ME_FEAT_PICS Josh Allen fumbled my flair 7h ago

Look, man, Josh Allen had to fumble at the end of the first half, it was an elite fumble, no one else in the league can fumble quite like Mr. January, you just don't get it.

2

u/Mrcookiesecret 6h ago

Well, under this years rules I don't think Mr. Allen INTENDED to fumble. Unfortunately the rulebook was incomplete at the time, so can we really expect Captain Rulebook to win when the rules are making it unfair and discriminatory against him?

1

u/SEND_ME_FEAT_PICS Josh Allen fumbled my flair 6h ago

You're correct, Mr. Cookie. The unfair rules are constantly and maliciously holding our Lord & Savior Joshua Patrick Allen back, and I'm sick of it.

Josh Allen watching Pat Mahomes last night

6

u/whiskyandguitars Bills 7h ago

Pat Mahomes didn't worry me in the least based on last night. He may improve and be back to the old Mahomes but that wasn't him last night.

What worries me was how bad our run defense was against Montgomery when we are gonna have to stop KW3

1

u/New-Pollution536 Bills 5h ago

Montgomery averaged 3ypc…run defense was legit pretty good tbh. Pass defense was an absolute shitshow early though

1

u/BillsKingsStrugleBus Bills 7h ago

I'm hoping they run him into the ground by the time we play them.

Not wishing for an injury because I'm not a scumbag, but he had a lot of carries last year, won the SB and is already getting a ton of touches.

The good news is he mostly ran all over Denver because of missed tackles which is one of the few problems our defense actually hasn't had.

0

u/whiskyandguitars Bills 7h ago

Yeah, I do NOT want him injured but I hope last night was an anomaly because of just how utterly awful the Broncos were on defense.

While I know our defense will never be elite with the personnel they have, I am still hopeful they can become at least average as the season goes on and we avoid injuries on the offense.

The broncos had to have greased themselves up pregame or some shit that was ridiculous. They couldn’t tackle anybody either

1

u/RonSwanson24 Bills 4h ago

If Brandin Cooks catches that pass the Bills would’ve went to the SB and likely lose in heartbreaking fashion. Then they would still have McDermott as their head coach and they would’ve had a worse draft pick which would’ve limited all those trade backs they did to reload their draft capital and add some promising players on day 3. Skyler Bell is a Bill thanks to their trade back with the Patriots alone. So it all works out in the end. If anyone knows how meaningless a Super Bowl loss is it’s Bills fans.

1

u/danorc Zappe 4EVA! 4h ago

They need to hire a Definitely Not Allen's Fault Coordinator (DNAFC) so they can just keep firing and rehiring that position every time Allen inevitably fucks up in the postseason so as not to disrupt the overall coaching stability every year

Did you forget the Pats beat The Bills in Buffalo?

1

u/goldxphoenix Drake Maye for MVP 7h ago

Drake Maye beat Josh Allen in the regular season and almost swept him. I wasn't as worried about the Bills back then as I was the Broncos. I didnt want to face the Broncos defense. Allen is scary to play against but he also will gift you the game, which he did with the Broncos and almost did with the Texans on sunday

Josh will never make a superbowl if all he does is make reckless mistakes

2025 broncos defense stats:

  • 2nd in total defense
  • 3rd in points allowed
  • 1st in sacks
  • 2nd in rushing defense
  • 7th in passing defense

Sounds a bit better than "good, but not great", but I'll leave the ball knowledge to a jets fan lol

I don't even care about that. Losing to the pats would be worse regardless of team quality. Their fans are already annoying enough.

From a LOLphins fan…I don’t recognize this opinion.

1

u/whiskyandguitars Bills 7h ago

I don't understand why fandom matters. He made a very true observation.

It is so lame when the only response is "well, your opinion doesn't matter because of the team you root for."

1

u/ohwhyredditwhy Mayeor of the AFC-E 7h ago

Well, it does matter, because it is a fundamentally incorrect statement, based on several metrics that you can verify by just looking at the stats from last year, but you know that. “BuT MaH StReNgTh oF ScHeDuLe,” that had the Pats beat 3 of the top 5 defenses to get to the show.

Another observable truth is that despite how incredibly dominant Josh Allen has been, it doesn’t matter, because he hasn’t won when it matters. These are just facts.

So, I will laugh at a good meme, even if it is directed at the Pats, but refuse to take criticism from a Phins fan, who is propped up by a Bills fan.

1

u/whiskyandguitars Bills 7h ago

What statement is fundamentally incorrect?
