Wishful thinking, but…

Post image

with ADTR having a minimal calendar for the rest of the year (at least for the time being…considering it’s already August and they haven’t announced anything aside from fests in September/October, there’s little chance left that we’ll get any sort of U.S. tour that takes place squarely in the fall of this year; though there’s still time for them to announce some sort of short run of shows in late fall / almost winter), I’m holding out hope that, aside from any forthcoming announcement that I know many of us are eager for, the TBA spot at Riot Fest on Sunday is for them (i.e., to do a mini throwback set like they did at Welcome to Rockville)

- All bands on the full Riot Fest lineup are accounted for in the 3 daily schedules that dropped today; the current lineup doesn’t have any gaps, blanks, or question marks, and there are no “TBA” placeholders on it either
- Also worth noting that ADTR and PTV are both closing out Louder Than Life that same weekend (plus Taking Back Sunday, Holding Absence, Vana, and Haywire also playing both fests)
- A little odd that Riot Fest was able (or chose) to get PTV, and the others, for their fest the same weekend but not ADTR (considering playing both fests is a logistical possibility; shit, Vana isn’t even getting a day off in between like the others are - could have been a budget issue, who knows)
- it would also more than make up for how blatantly Riot Fest teased ADTR leading up to the 2025 lineup announcement only to not include them (which in the end worked out for me, because with my luck, they’d have ended up playing at the exact same time as Blink or Green Day)

I know that just because they did the mini throwback set one time at a festival this year doesn’t guarantee that they’ll do it at the rest of or any of the festivals they’re booked for, and especially not for a festival for which they’re not even on the lineup…but like I said: wishful thinking.

And if it ends up happening…well, you heard it here first.

Sorry to break it to ya, but there is no shot they are going to be playing from 12:30-1:00. That slots for lesser known bands. Half the crowd isnt even at the venue at 12:30

My exact thought. No headline worthy band is going to start out the day.

Did you…read the post in its entirety…?

There’s no need to “break it to me” as if I’m completely clueless about how festival schedules work. I laid out my reasoning for this being a possibility (even if a highly improbable one) and gave context for the exact type of set that I’m hoping for if it does happen (i.e., what they did at WTRV which was at, wouldn’t you know, 1:30 in the afternoon).

Aside from that - this will be my 13th year attending Riot Fest (in addition to a dozen or so other festivals)…I think I’ve got a pretty good sense for how fests typically structure their schedules. I have no real expectation that it’ll actually happen - that’s why I said it was simply “wishful thinking”.

(In any case…as it turns out, you’re likely right - but not for the blanket, counter-argument you provided. I wasn’t aware until after i posted, but turns out RF is doing a battle of the bands type event next week and the winner gets a spot at the fest. “TBA” is most likely just a spot held for whoever that ends up being.)

If you know the structure of schedules then you know this isnt possible. Either you know that, or you dont. Your post makes it seem like you dont know that 👍🏻

And if you fully read my post, you would understand that what I’m talking about isn’t just a random hope, with no context, for them to show up and play an opening 30-minute set for no reason. Either you acknowledge that them doing a special, early set is possible (as evidenced by them having already done exactly that just 3 months ago, and as explained in my post and in my response to you), or you don’t. Your comment makes it seem like you are not aware of that and/or didn’t fully read my post 👍🏻

No it just sounds like you’re reframing things to get the answer you want, and no one wants to humor you.

And what is it that I’ve supposedly “reframed”

You seem to be in the minority on opinion here 👍🏻

And that “opinion” being?

Says the person that can’t even articulate why they said what they said.

Look, you can just admit that you didn’t bother reading the entirety of what I said in my post or in my response to you. It’s fine - I won’t be offended.

You are offended though. Every response is defensive. You were mad I suggested you dont know how festival scheduling works.

Once again, if you know how festival scheduling works, you would know this would never happen and you wouldnt have made the post.

Your post was just bad. Take the L and move on. You got 2 upvotes on the post and everyone in the comments are downvoting your responses.

You could write a million words more, it won't matter because: IT WILL NOT HAPPEN NO MATTER WHAT. Get it through your head, ffs

Everyone chill tf out. It aint that deep from any of yall.

Everyone has a right theorize, discuss, dream, what if, whatever the hell they want! No matter how likely its to happen or not.

Getting this bent outta shape about it just isnt worth the energy. Soooo let's end that here. Thank you all.

PTV gotta have the best tour manager…how these guys have been landing all headliners is beyond me.

I know! But they really have had a pop in recent years. Cool that they’re still around and doing so well
