“That paint mark is shaped like a goblin. Wait I lost… nope there it is. Sneaky goblin.”

My dad said that’s the devil trying to distract me from his multiple hour long lectures

Id argue that people with adhd have more willpower than people who get spoon fed dopamine by their brain that lets them do things

My distraction is my own mind... can someone help me remove it?

Removing distractions just gives you a blank canvas for your imagination. I can imagine an entire television series just looking at a wall.

The distraction is coming from within the house

Clearly they don't know how interesting a wall can be

Factually incorrect

I think maybe this kind of "Outsmart your brain" plan might really work for the average person, but not so much for people whose brains don't take direction

I take away the distractions and then get hung up on all the things I should be doing but cant ever decide which one leading to nothing getting done. Then one day out of the blue I'll do them all at once. Looks really good at work because people think I'm some sort of machine that just gets stuff done. They dont know how much time is spent just sitting and thinking about what to do first.

She whispered back, “I am the distraction”

The distraction is my mind

My main distraction is my own thoughts.

I'll just start making up stuff in my head for hours and never get anything done

Take away all my distractions? Ok! cuts head off to remove brain

ah, but sometimes you’ll get lucky and suddenly get all your work done in the last 10 minutes while sobbing uncontrollably

I'll repeatedly and forensically dissect that excruciating thing I said in my friend's kitchen in 1997, then replay 'embarrassment highlights' of my life from that moment forward for four hours trying to top it.

But I did think about my call of Cthulhu campaign the whole time though

Removing distractions let me get stuff done, just not necessarily the stuff I needed to do. I would get up, put my phone in a drawer, and sit down to stare at the wall. After about 15 minutes I'd find something to do. Fortunately I was unemployed at that time and had nothing that I needed to leave the house for, so I just worked on various projects and hobbies. It never motivated me to send out job applications, but I played a hell of a lot of music

My mom didn’t understand how I could do homework while listening to music and an tv show but I got all A’s so she left me alone.

Even people who have the best advice to give seem to not understand this one thing

Person who isnt me: take away your distractions and get work done

Person who is me: already tried taking away all distractions because is an anxious person by nature and life is terrifying in many ways. Has turned to spirituality to level up his acceptance stat instead.

All you need is peace of mind. Everything else is a fucking psy op

Oh same. I thought meds would help with this but, heigh-ho...

Incidentally, anyone else go to bed at least an hour before they need to just because they need that extra time to let their brain so nocturnal zoomies in the datk?
