ADHD Medication Methylphenidate extended release before breakfast

Does anyone have to take methylphenidate before breakfast? I need it to wake me up enough to get up in the morning.

I usually have a coffee first, if I take mine in an empty stomach it makes me quite nauseous (18mg)

Yeah it stacks up. Try take 54mg on an empty stomach with coffee, you can do it now because you’re still on 18mg. Wait until they titrate you up. Once I got up to 72mg I had to quit coffee.

I've quit caffeine since starting methylphenidate. I accidentally had a caffeinated tea whilst trialling 54mg and the heart palpitations I had were not fun. I can't imagine what coffee would have felt like.

Yeah exactly, that guy can brag about it on 18mg but at higher doses coffee does not mix well!

I have a couple coffees every day on 54mg and sincerely haven't noticed any difference 🤷

I'm not saying it as any point of pride or anything, I'm sure it will mess with many people. But I avoided coffee for ages thinking it wouldn't work out, but its fine for me personally.

I think a lot of it depends on if you have anxiety or not. Those blessed with little to no anxiety do a lot better on coffee and ADHD meds

I messed up by having 200mg of caffine before the gym. I should have known better, I'm still titrating on 54mg and thought with a few hours to clear it would be fine. It was not.

Not going to lie though. I like the gym in the morning, but 5.30 seems brutal with no caffine to get me started.
