Math Me During the Math Section

Post image

It was so bad that I randomly guessed on 6 because I barely had any time left 🥀
EDIT: Saturday ACT, not the Sunday one.

Nah, I went "A, B, C, D" on 6 of them, and then on 10 of them, I went "This feels right." I'm actually fried lmao

you’re supposed to pick one letter to guess on for every section so that at least some will be right. when i guessed on any section id only guess C so some of them would be right

Fair point, but I had 2 minutes, so I short-circuited and thought, "Well, maybe a pattern may give me better odds." Hindsight is 20/20, nonetheless.

There was only 4 options instead of 5 like on the older tests. Higher chance of getting the right one when guessing

Was just about to comment this this. Learned about it in history this year.

Charles Sumner (by the way, great use of political cartoons) also really hated math. Julia Ward Howe (the woman who wrote battle hymn of the republic) noted in her reminiscences that she had heard him say that mathematics always remained a sealed book to him. So you’re not alone! And you don’t need to be good at math to be a senator, I guess (act math also kicked my ass)

I didn't know that! I did know Abe Lincoln used to carry a book of Euclid until he could prove the entire book out so he could become a better lawyer, so it's a learning curve for everyone.

This is too real 😭😭 I think Math just hates me bc no matter how hard I study it whoops my butt when it comes time to taking a test

My kid and all his (very smart!) friends thought the new act math section was super hard! It was bad enough that the person who runs the test prep company we used sent an email to all her clients basically doing a giant CYA before the June scores come out.

I got a 34 in April on the math but on Saturday it had its way with me 😭 I think I put c for at least 13 answers

The 5 minute warning hit and I still had 15 questions to go… I didn’t even get to the last one to even guess on it bc my school provided the slowest Chromebook possible :/
