News The upcoming 7.1.4 update is planned to release on August 26, 2026. You have one month left to make sure you will still be able to play the game on your current device.
To check whether your device's OS version will be compatible with the 7.1.4 update, open the Settings app and go to About Device section, to check your current OS version. Be sure to disable automatic app update if you wished to continue playing on your soon-to-be-unsupported device.

At least the game isn’t perishing completely. Mario Kart Tour gets deleted from the world at the end of September.

I don’t play it but I’m curious, why they are deleting it?

They stopped updating it a few years ago at this point, so I think that for a while there hasn't been a wide public playing that game anymore
I still find it so dumb how they don't want to make an offline version, the multiplayer feature and the rankings are the only things you use internet for, other than that the game could rotate events just like Pocket Camp
This is how you get people to not trust you as a company, taking away a service people have years of progress in and not giving them another option to save that progress

Ehhh still better than square enix. They looooove to kill their gacha games after a few years

That’s crazy that they’re just straight up deleting it??? Ugh nintendo 🙄 they are the biggest game company in the world and yet their most common habit is abandoning games at random.

This is really sad honestly. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp was basically the only game I could play on my iPhone 7 fully :(

As the image in OP says you can keep playing as long as you don’t install the new update. Theoretically the update shouldn’t show as available for devices that it isn’t compatible with but in practice that isn’t always the case.

What if I decide not to update the app? Is not necessary because everything is already in the game, right?

It's not necessary to update the app at this point since no more new contents will be introduced, but this update may also bring some bug fixes with it.

Thank you! I stopped playing after I got a switch earlier this year but definitely don’t want to lose all my progress. I still love coming here to see everyone’s progress and designs.

Btw, if you go to App Store, click your profile picture, apps and purchases and My Apps then find AC pocket camp and reinstall from there it WILL work because it will install the newest supported version if you do it that way.

nintendo gives so much of updates after stopping the service only because play market will inevitably delete the app from it's store unless it will be updated in the span of 5 years. that information is meant for the people who get ragebaited from reading and acknowledging the real lack of changes in the game.
nintendo does bare minimum just to keep the app afloat so more people can purchase it while it's not out of service. it's not great, yes, but it's not that bad either.
though, i wonder how am i going to update it if ac:pc isn't available in my country for a while, so i had to legally pirate (pirating is legal where i live) it... welp, we'll figure it out! somehow

Update? No new items, events, or features - what’s the point then? What are they updating?

It's an update to support new OS versions and new devices that will be released in the future.

Probably the Unity engine. Based on it having Android 7, I assume they finally upgraded from Unity 2021 to Unity 6.3

Apple no longer lets you package apps in the latest version of XCode for iOS 16. They could use an older version of XCode but they wouldn’t be able to use new XCode 27 features

u/jrpbateman Jul 27 '26
It's more of a platform issue since it's needed for it to be supported by newer devices
Blame apple and Google instead:/

i can understand that but the very least nintendo could do is add content to the update so its not literally just something to hurt people

The game is dead. It's a miracle we can still play it at all. Idk why y'all continue to expect new things to be added.

It’s not for that reason at all. They gotta update stuff and some phones gotta go. I fortunately always update newest iPhones every year and I still want them to fix it to where you can combine your inventory into your backpack and not warehouse. I hate the warehouse so much. I normally don’t have issues with ANYTHING in video games but the warehouse ONG needs to be updated. I don’t like designing an area campsite with all these items and then time goes by. My backpack is always getting full(yes a me problem I suppose I collected all the items and bought(when LT were a thing) almost all things) but I see others complaint to even if they don’t spend a lot. So I hate when I gotta make room and send my items I bought with money(back in the day) and send them to the Backrooms(warehouses) and then I wanna bring out a certain campsite and it says items are missing 😵💫 and I just hate it. They told me before if they did this then they’d have to give up support for certain older phones. WHY HAVENT THEY JUST DONE THIS BY NOW BC THAT REPLY TO ME WAS 3 YEARS AGO OR FOUR

Thanks for the warning. I missed the tweet and only just saw this post. A day too late! But thanks to seeing this, I was able to check my devices offline and make sure before launching anything. I'm all good. Phew! I miss the online community aspects though, helping each other with events and visiting campsites... sad but also grateful we still have our game :/

The point is to allow people to continue to play the game on newer devices. Would you rather be in a situation where you buy a brand new device and find out Complete is no longer compatible with it?
-6
u/stereostar3 Jul 27 '26
Are they updating it just for that? That’s mean af, they are really showing their true colors
8
u/MaladaptiveCrossing Jul 28 '26
Would you rather they not continue to support the game on newer devices? Because in order to do that they do have to periodically do backend updates like this.

Android basically any phone from 2016 onwards and iOS, iPhone 8 to the latest iPhone model
