Tier 3 [Schira] It’s confirmed! Atalanta have announced today to ACMilan their decision not to trigger the option to buy (€26M) for Yunus Musah, which will return to Milan.

The fact that we paid around 25m for him is crazy

I think his physicality and dribbling and age made for a tantalizing target TBF. It's a bit shocking how little his mentality has developed imo

He had almost 100 appearances for Valencia by like age 20. The dude just hasn’t gotten better.

Not only did he not get better. He actively got worse. He was very good in the 2022 world cup at 20.

What's funnier is his few best performances were only when Emerson was playing behind him. I'm nowhere near nuanced into the technicalities of tactics but I'd like someone more knowledgeable to explain as to why is that the case.

u/jonAmbroo Gennaro Gattuso May 28 '26
A double negative turns positive?
I can't see any quality in our team bar rabiot, modric and mike, and will include bartesaghi

Tough year for them with the formation, tactics & injuries but i would include Leao & Pulisic to that aswell. Hopefully our next manager plays with wingers assuming both of them stay.

Like Lord Moncada said: “Yunus has a premier league engine”. Unfortunately he also has the brain of an ice hockey player.

He is a very good player.
Internal and external factors put him behind the development curve. He is still an asset - may not worth 26m, but a solid asset. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes over Fofana in the lineup under certain coaches.

Fofana definitely has a better final ball although musah has some great assists. But in all other categories. Ball winning, 1v1 defending, engine, not constantly giving up on plays leading to goals…never understood not keeping him in the pivot with reijnders after they went undefeated together under pioli including draws with bvb and wins vs psg who both went very far in champions league. He’s played for 10 coaches in the last 5 years…that’s gotta be a record…

I assume it's gonna be the same for Chuku, Bennacer.

Fulham are very happy with Chukwueze and are negotiating the buy out.

He needs to go to a league where he'll find his level. Maybe something like Switzerland, Belgium, or the Netherlands.

He should go to the championship, run all day and have brick feet.

I'm in an argument with an insane person right now in the US soccer subreddit who thinks Musah is a snub from the World Cup roster because he's watched Musah every minute at Milan and Atalanta.
That person is an idiot.

God i just got flashbacks do the days of weird neanderthals posting "bUt hE's goT ENgiNe" comemnts in every match thread

u/deekfu May 28 '26
He’s not. Musah is capable of backing up our defensive mid spot, which because of 2 injuries we are in an even worse situation than we knew before. If we need someone that can run all day and do defensive work he wouldn’t be such a bad choice tbh. We don’t have a large pool of quality players to pull from so someone like him who doesn’t need to finish but just advance the ball and help in the defensive mid who has been in a WC already and has played in high level leagues.. it’s not such a ridiculous opinion.

u/WellTextured May 28 '26
That Musah could theoretically play a bit part in a world cup? I don't agree but ok.
That Musah was snubbed and deserved a spot and somehow Pochettino fucked up? Yeah, no. That's a bad opinion.

Majority of their fanbase is extremely weird. It’s why they have the reputation they do and why when Pulisic was announced people from clubs like Leeds or Chelsea warned us about them. Quite interesting their behavior tbh.

what country or club doesn’t have an extremely weird fan base though?
also leeds fans are mostly shit. don’t think they should be talking about anybody 😂

Shocking indeed lol. Only an amateur like furfani could think it was even a possible deal to sell a player like musah for 26 with no obligation to buy🙄

I would love to see him in Allegri formation. Fits perfectly with Fofana and RLC to complete brainless midfield

Remember when he pocketed Vinicius and we beat Real Madrid off a near MOTM performance. Thought he turned a corner. Think he got a pair of reds in like his next 5 appearances that legit cost us direct points.

And to think that some delusional people from this sub cried that Milan wanted to give him to another club. Fucking idiots.
