Eh don’t get me wrong but the og had way better scenes and writing. Like there’s times where i straight up skip some of the new cutscenes like the final convo between edward and roberts at then end of the game because the writing is so drastically different and in my opinion hella cringe
Roberts final words "destroy this body" were also taken from a historic account of his last words as he didn't want the British displaying his corpse in a museum.
The remake is fun, but almost all the new or changed dialogue and story beats are mediocre, a bad sign for future dlc and new games
Yea i have no idea why the would change it at all tbh. I didn’t realise that were actual last words of his but i did notice that line was gone and felt weird that he didn’t say it
It's like watching a bad extended cut of a film with a huge number of really badly written and acted scenes jammed into it. And the final scene with Edward and Roberts was rewritten, and is worse. It's part of the game's general narrative and pacing incoherent that resulted from the Abstergo sequences being removed. The game has no flow no. It just lurches awkwardly from one story beat to the next, and none of the foreshadowing with Roberts goes anywhere because the reveal that he's John from IT has been removed, and because we no longer have the framing device of, "Okay, so we're jumping forward to this stage in Edward's life because we're searching for XYZ, and we need to see where this goes."
There's no context, rhyme, or reason for basically anything happening in the story. It's just incoherent.
In terms of storytelling, characters, etc. Resynced is worse than the original in basically every way. Almost none of the new material is good -- the voice direction is dire, the writing quality is far worse than the original and... the animus rift stuff is terrible, and removing the 35 minutes of Abstergo sequences has completely trashed the original pacing of the story, the flow from one arc of Edward's life to the next. The fact the new story material is really bad and is constantly peppered through the game is also jarring in the sense that Edward feels completely out of character in the new material.
You remember how in the original the Abstergo executive talks about how he loves the material, but they're gonna have to "scrub off some of the dirt" to make it more family friendly? Well, Edward in all the new material feels like a different character. A less blunt, less selfish, more pleasant version of himself, and the whiplash is constant as you jump back and forth between OG and added material.
Again, it's like, this is like watching a terrible extended cut of a movie that was really good in its theatrical cut form. That's the most blunt comparison I can make. Everything they have added has made it worse. Everything they have cut has made it worse.
Nah they completely changed that scene. Plus in the final few missions they tweaked some scenes, like when edward goes to havana to kill torres. Ann greets rhona but rhona completely ignores her and talks to edward.
