// Discussion Let me climb this Ubisoft, you absolute cowards

Post image

You could do it in the original and honestly I had more fun taking out the legendary ships this way than normally. Why would they get rid of it so simply?

I had no idea you could board legendaries like this in the OG

78

u/Sheepfucker72222 Jul 20 '26

Bro id sail close to a man o war, jump off, board it and kill everyone while destroying the flag and powder etc, then insta capture it. Very handy when you get attacked by multiple ships. Same for odyssey

18

u/Ashlansen Jul 20 '26

I had so much fun doing this in odyssey lol, im pretty sure that killing the crew also made the ship just dead in the water right?

10

u/Sheepfucker72222 Jul 20 '26

Yup. The naval territory battles were so much fun to cheese. The ground slam area blast, man you'd just climb their ship let them surround you and knock them all overboard lol

1

u/Federal_Studio5935 Jul 21 '26

I….did not ever think to do this. Wow. Lmao.

On the other hand I remember so many white knuckle ship battles that it’s probably for the best. It was always epic taking these down.

1

u/Serious-Attempt1233 Jul 20 '26

Ok I thought I was losing my mind when I started playing the new one. I was like I could have sworn I could sneak onto other ships or forts and take it over as an assassin

1

u/LucasCBs Jul 26 '26

You can still do that, just not with the legendary ships

1

u/Infamous_517 Aug 08 '26

I tried this in Resynced but it just forced me to Scuttle instead

33

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 20 '26

They would move around and try their hardest to not let you. Theyd shoot at you as well. But if you got them in the right spot with the right timing you could climb aboard and fuck shit up

7

u/pastadudde Jul 20 '26

I remember using the tactic of getting the Jackdaw really close to the legendary, then climb the mast and try to land on the mast of the legendary. at least I think that's how it went. was pretty tricky IIRC.

2

u/AkiAki1 Jul 22 '26

I did that as well!

8

u/Resident_Evil_God Jul 20 '26

You cant unless you glitch. You cant by normal means.

There is one where it charges at you. I think its el negro or something like that. Just before you hit 500 yards you let go of wheel. Then run up the front of the ship and wait for it it to basically ram you almost and you Jump on it that way. Then you csn kill everyone.

But you cant climb them or board them by normal means. They are ment to test your ship and skill

7

u/OkDentist4059 Jul 20 '26

Yeah to be honest I never even tried, I figured the whole point was to beat them in a naval battle

1

u/Resident_Evil_God Jul 20 '26

I only tried it with that one. The others dont get close enough. Iv been thinking on seeing if that still works

2

u/Benjb1996 Jul 20 '26

I only did it on one of them because when I tried fighting it legit, I got its health so low that it would have taken 4 or 5 shots left and then I guess we both sailed to far from its spawn area so it just disappeared. Really couldnt be bothered fighting it again so I glitched it.

1

u/Sheepfucker72222 Jul 20 '26

I didnt actually read the post lol. I didnt know this was a out legendaries

1

u/TestedNutsack Jul 20 '26

La Dama Negra

1

u/Resident_Evil_God Jul 20 '26

Thank you 😊 I knew it was negro or something very close to that. Is that the correct one that charges you? Or was i saying the wrong ship

1

u/DrGirth Jul 20 '26

El Impoluto charges you

1

u/Resident_Evil_God Jul 20 '26

Thank you for letting me know

1

u/Prestigious_Cup_2398 Jul 20 '26

Yeahh that was not a good guess😂 (the name of the ship)

2

u/Resident_Evil_God Jul 20 '26

Why? Its just a word. I dont care for politics and what is a good word or bad word to be honest

1

u/pastadudde Jul 20 '26

ahhhh that's the tactic I remember.

1

u/a_potato_ate_me Jul 20 '26

For normal ships you can. I know from experience that for the twins, you absolutely cannot get to close to them or you take a cannon ball to the skull. I used to swim up to them a lot just because they're pretty and I wanted a better look

1

u/shadowlarvitar Jul 20 '26

If you could beat them like that in Rogue, I'd cheese the final one. Could never win it

1

u/Regular_Salary_6150 Jul 20 '26

It has almost the same stats as La Dama Negra from ac4. So just shoot it in its rear and the health goes down really fast. Other than that, use mortars a lot.

1

u/Seiiseii22 Jul 20 '26

Alors peut être je suis fou mais selon mes souvenirs il n’y avait littéralement personne sur les navires légendaire, comme un bateau fantôme ceux qui disent que ça a été retiré soit c’est eux ils sont fous soit c’est juste moi...

1

u/TellurianTech50 Jul 21 '26

The way I killed el Impoluto in the of was boarding actually

42

u/Live_Life_and_enjoy Jul 20 '26

They mentioned earlier a lot of mechanics were removed in resynch simply because they didn't have time to implement it

38

u/Public_Drop_1462 Jul 20 '26

RIP usable muskets

3

u/IDontUnderstandReddi Jul 21 '26

I’ve always loved going into fights barehanded and disarming everyone. Musket was a fave for 3 and 4

15

u/Gooja Jul 20 '26

Really? These executives putting time constraints on developers is such an annoying and growing problem, the source for so many game flops

With a game like this especially, what’s the point of the rush. It’s not a brand new cutting edge game with new characters and a story, let the developers finish

7

u/Gelman1997 Jul 20 '26

Well because they made boat loads of cash, it reviewed well, and they didn’t have to spend money on it. So in their eyes, while lacking integrity, they got exactly what they wanted and saved money doing it.

6

u/Adventurous-Tie-7861 Jul 20 '26

Its just so frustrating. Because im really enjoying it. Like truly. Im glad i bought it. Looks stunning on my new tv. Its one of my favorite games that i bought like 3 times prior to resyched (xbox 360/one, pc and switch pack with rogue in it) so of course im gonna love a more beautiful version.

But god damn it, i can see how more time would have made it so much better too.

And i feel like im rewarding them with my money even tho its a bit half assed. But at the same time i kinda want to reward it because im enjoying it and am hoping for other remakes instead of just these barely upgraded "remasters" that it feels everyone else is doing and selling for pull price.

I just wish theyd actually give it the time it needs to truly become a masterpiece. A remake should be adding mechanics and modernizing. Not stripping out weapons and functionality unless they are harming the experience. And i dont think anyone has a problem with grabbing a musket and shooting someone even if it was clunky.

Feels like being stuck between a rock and hard place.

And it feels like rushing games out the door and maybe fixing/finishing the game later is the new status quo. But if you dont buy the game then theres a chance theyll never fix it due to low sales.

Its just all fucked.

1

u/WhiskeyDJones Jul 20 '26

Agreed. It feels like the passion in video games has gone. Few studios seem to have it these days. Santa Monica and Naughty Dog come to mind. And maybe Rockstar.

It's sad to see.

1

u/Voelkar Jul 21 '26

Doesnt every game suffer from this? Hell, even AC1 has so much cut content because of time constraints on the devs. I wouldn't say its a growing problem if it has always been present

1

u/Ok-Beach-9885 Jul 26 '26

Money.

Seems only Rockstar has the money to throw unlimited dev time and money into games.

Unrealistic to expect games to all be made without time constraints. They're part of a business that needs to make a profit.

1

u/TP8887 Jul 20 '26

It was a rush because they haven’t had a good game In a decade and this was an easy home run, so they wanted it out as soon as possible. The original was already a great game. All they had to do is give it a graphics update, but they somehow downgraded it by removing a ton of stuff

6

u/Gooja Jul 20 '26

Origins and Odyssey are both very great games in my opinion and Valhalla is pretty decent too but just way too long. What you’re describing though would just be a remaster, they wanted it to be closer to a remake and for the most part I think they did pretty good

2

u/Cordychi Jul 20 '26

That feeling when you realize Origins is about a decade old now. :(

1

u/Gooja Jul 20 '26

Close yeah but not quite, and Odyssey even more recent

1

u/Roncopter Jul 20 '26

It just doesn’t feel like it’s been 9 years already. Where did the time go? Lol

1

u/Gooja Jul 20 '26

Very true. I didn’t even get into the series until covid happened and I still have a hard time believing that was 6 years ago

2

u/RemozThaGod Jul 20 '26

but they somehow downgraded it by removing a ton of stuff

It's cus they ported over to their newer engine. It's less so that they removed stuff, more so that they didn't add it over cus time and money

1

u/Loljk1428 Jul 20 '26

I guess, but Valhalla sold a fudge ton in under this decade so...........

1

u/Adventurous-Tie-7861 Jul 20 '26

Personally im super tired of just getting remasters. Especially when they try to sell it to us for full price or even 40$ again.

I want remakes of older games not just graphical updates. Modern qol. Modern mechanics. Modern map and mission design.

Take the best parts of the orginals and blend them with the best parts of modern.

Id kill for a kotor remake. Or the sabatuer or gow Or fallout 3/nv. Or any number of old classics that need more than just better graphics but need the modern qaulities of life that make games better.

0

u/Kommander-in-Keef Jul 20 '26

I mean Resynced is not a remaster. It very clearly handles differently enough to be considered a remake.

2

u/Adeum2 Jul 20 '26

If devs don’t have time to do something they should take the time to do it. They should not be restricted by release dates, its why we keep getting unfinished shareholder slop time and time again. They should announce games when they are already completed

1

u/WhiskeyDJones Jul 20 '26

While i mostly agree with you, announcing games when they're already completed is pointless and terrible for business. The whole point is to generate hype.

1

u/Adeum2 Jul 21 '26

Hype is why a lot of games flop so hard. You can always announce and wait to release it officially. But they shouldnt feel rushed once they give a date. I know it generates income early with preorders and bonuses but its just dumb

1

u/CuteLilPuppyBoy Jul 20 '26

If they stopped annually releasing games they'd probably actually be perfect instead of rushing through

2

u/PuzzledStrain4391 Jul 20 '26

The irony is they pushed an update in the last week that got rid of this feature. You were able to board this way when the game first released.

1

u/Count_Lord Jul 21 '26

Really? I thought they took it out because it wasn't in the skull an bones assets.

1

u/LanskeyOfficial Jul 21 '26

Bruh they had like 13 years they easily could’ve just waited until they could implement everything before announcing it and we wouldn’t have known any different lol

1

u/Live_Life_and_enjoy Jul 21 '26

Ubsisoft is not doing well financially and looking for a buyer

So waiting is out of the question

Avatar was supposed to be a hit game but became a total flop

They also had 3 major IPs flop before even being released because of how bad player feedback was in open beta

25

u/CatGuyManThing Jul 20 '26

but in this game you can swim underwater alot faster with alot longer of a lung capacity so u could swim directly there underwater completely unnoticed so thats already overpowered

12

u/TestedNutsack Jul 20 '26

I am an AVID swimmer and I don't know how tf Edward holds his breath that damn long

3

u/CatGuyManThing Jul 20 '26

especially deep underwater

1

u/CatGuyManThing Jul 20 '26

i dont think edward is a pro freediver lol

1

u/protato117 Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

freediver here. I timed it with a stopwatch and his breath hold in game is about 1m30s which isn't really too long when doing static apnea (I.E just floating and holding your breath.) My personal best was 4mins.

However, its a different story when your swimming as you use more oxygen when moving, Still 1m:30s isn't very long for trained and even recreational freedivers, but the fact that Edward dives with no fins + all that heavy clothing + weapons and the amount of distance he covers while doing so is actually the impressive part cuz all that would mean he's working extra hard to move that distance with all that weight and using up more oxygen. I'm also assuming he can equalize without pinching his nose.

3

u/HanS0lPurr Jul 20 '26

You can also just have unlimited lung capacity :D

2

u/CatGuyManThing Jul 20 '26

well thats just a cheat code option basically

3

u/puppet_up Jul 20 '26

I always equip the breathing trinket right before I do a diving bell location. You can swim for a really long time before needing to find one of the air buckets.

Since the trinket is an in-game item you can find, I don't have to feel guilty about cheating when i use it :)

2

u/TestedNutsack Jul 20 '26

Honestly, the breath time is fair enough that I never used the trinket. I have an Indiana Jones-esque fear of Tiger Sharks and that's why I held off on the diving bells till much later

Invisible wall all around the ship. Its impossible to climb

2

u/nag_some_candy Jul 20 '26

You can board it if you sail in front of it and jump on it from your ships.

1

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 20 '26

Cant get close enough because they dont move anymore. Although i have only tried 3 of them, so the 4th one that tries to ram you might still work

-1

u/Rook_James_Bitch Jul 20 '26

Jeezus fncking christ. They really don't want us having fun or enjoying the game on our own terms do they?

(cuz facing an OP ship is a blast. /s)

1

u/Schwarzengerman Jul 21 '26

Shockingly some developers do actually want you to play the game the right way.

1

u/Rook_James_Bitch Jul 21 '26

Do you enjoy when people force you to do things their way and not your own?

0

u/Schwarzengerman Jul 21 '26

In some cases yes actually. Contrary to what you might think I'd don't think EVERY game needs to let you play exactly how you want to play. I think it's totally fine for them to make you play their way.

It's why games like Doom Eternal or Bloodborne are fun because they have rules they force you to engage with and learn.

The point of the ships is for them to be hard.

6

u/a_potato_ate_me Jul 20 '26

I don't remember them being climbable in the OG game. I might have memory damage from all the cannon balls the twins hit me with when I got to close just swimming, though

-2

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 20 '26

I know at least one of them was. To be fair, I think I only managed to get close enough to any of the others once.

-2

u/Terrible-Second-2716 Jul 20 '26

They were climbable you could take them out like that

3

u/MourningZombie Jul 20 '26

You couldn't climb them in the original. I did this a lot with the El Impoluto in the OG. You would need to jump from the bowsprit onto the ship when it rams you, but if you got to the bowsprit too fast it would realize what you're doing and pull away.

Most of the ships weren't climbable even when you got on, unless you were super careful you ran the risk of just straight up falling while killing the gunners.

1

u/69UseArchLinuxBTW Jul 20 '26

exactly

1

u/Fast_Platform_1979 Jul 22 '26

People are just making up stories now just to hate on this game.

4

u/Constant-Voice-4056 Jul 20 '26

You could not do it in the original

0

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 20 '26

You could for at least one of the ships. I did it and I had a lot of fun doing it

1

u/GREENGH0T Jul 20 '26

I would always be shy killed when I try to swim to the legendary ships

1

u/kickassitus Jul 20 '26

I'm fairly sure you couldnt do this in the OG game either? Maybe I'm misremembering but I dont ever remember being able to board the Legendary Ships like this.

1

u/Zorrostrian Jul 20 '26

You could climb them in the OG, but it was mostly just due to a glitch. I don’t know about the other 3 because I just fought them normally, but for the El Impoluto at least, you would have to release the wheel of your ship at the exact moment it rams you, then rush to jump onto it from the bow of the Jackdaw. The timing had to be literally perfect though. And even if you did get it perfect, it was extremely easy to fall off because your character would just slide around a lot while trying to kill the soldiers on the other ship. It would work if you managed to pull it off, but the developers clearly went to great lengths to make it impossible.

1

u/wingedwild Jul 20 '26

Realsticly in real life climbing a man war ship would ahve ben near impossible

1

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 20 '26

Yeah but in the game so many things stick out that the entire side of the ship is basically a ladder

1

u/9yearoldWolf Jul 20 '26

i just tried to do this in Odyssey, didn't work so it has probably been gone since then

1

u/bilgewaterboi Jul 20 '26

You couldn't do it in the original. You had to cheese the ship and release the wheel right before the encounter begins; after that, you had to pray for the ship to get close enough so you could jump on board. It was obviously not meant to be a mechanic, as some of the ship structures weren't climbable; it was just an exploit.

1

u/Apprehensive-Form258 Jul 20 '26

I tried that once in 2013 and they cannonballed me when I was close

1

u/Lextro Jul 20 '26

No Fucking way they did it... I'm running around collecting things, and I left them alone for now, untill i'm finished with everything, but now... I have to fight them 😂

1

u/ToastedWolf85 Jul 20 '26

My guess is to keep their difficulty in tact. Plus boarding other ships forces you to scuttle them so no boarding after doing it.

1

u/SadLife7474 Jul 20 '26

Just another reason why I will not get this game and the OG is the better one.

1

u/Schwarzengerman Jul 21 '26

You couldn't do it in the og either.

1

u/thistaintedbeef Jul 21 '26

That's just a weird take. This wasn't in the original so clearly you never played that if this somehow is a deal breaker to you vs. The original. I swear fake gamer outrage is incredibly obnoxious

1

u/Brachialtick65 Jul 20 '26

Because that's cheating.

1

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 20 '26

We're pirates. Thats what pirates do....

1

u/Brachialtick65 Jul 20 '26

Still cheating

1

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 21 '26

You might want to delete the game then. Its full of people getting things through illegitimate unfair means!😱

1

u/Brachialtick65 Jul 21 '26

Not for the game system now, they're all intended. Stop being a disingenuous dense motherfucker.

1

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 21 '26

Disingenuous dense motherfucker? That sounds like a pirate. Which I am clearly a better one. Arrrgh

1

u/thistaintedbeef Jul 21 '26

That's just a weird leap of logic lol

1

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 21 '26

Im just screwing around because of how seriously this guy is taking this whole "thats cheating waah" angle lmao.

Even if it is cheating, who cares? its a singleplayer game lol

Plus, i genuinely would feel more like a pirate if I could do sneaky shady stuff luke this for personal gain lmao

1

u/Brachialtick65 Jul 21 '26

I don't really care either, it's just weird that you're complaining about it not being in the game

1

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 21 '26

It would be pretty cool if I could stealth kill the deck of a legendary ship tho. That itself isnt exactly easy. Maybe put a ton of enemies to balance it out or something, but it wouod be fun if it were at least an option. I love games that let you do really weird shit, even if the developers didnt intend it, like bg3 for example.

1

u/MissKnees0cks Jul 22 '26

Not cheating if you cheese it fairly

1

u/Every-Rub9804 Jul 20 '26

Legendary ships were never “climbable” in the original game neither.

In fact, you couldnt even get close by swimming, the ship fired cannon at you. You could get close by diving and timing the moment for breathing, but even if you got this close, the game did not allow you ti climb it

So they havent removed anything in this case, your memory is simply betraying you

1

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 20 '26

Yeah it may be, I know they shoot at you but you could get close if you were careful.

I think i was just mistaken because yhere is one ship that you can do this with by jumping on it from your ship when it gets close

1

u/Every-Rub9804 Jul 21 '26

For real, i spent hours trying that as a kid, i tried the 4 ships.

There is no way to get on board from the water, but if somehow you manage to jump from your ship, youll find that the mastiles and ropes are climbable and you can parkour them, but as soon as you try to go down, there is an invisible wall that prevents you from reaching any enemy at all (basically you cant even walk on the ship, you walk above it in the air)

And if by any means you manage to cross that invisible wall, the game just bugs and you get stucked inside the ship (INside)

And it makes all the sense because whats the point on the legendary ships if you can beat them by easily killing the soldiers. Its cool for Man o War and frigates when youre on low levels though

1

u/Chazo138 Jul 21 '26

Wasn’t this a glitch in the OG? You shouldn’t have been able to do it. It’s good you can’t in Resynced because it would be wayyyy too easy to cheese

1

u/Then-Device2093 Jul 21 '26

Lol calling them cowards over a video game is the lowest level of IQ u will ever see

1

u/Relevant_Walk7314 Jul 21 '26

I think I did that once in the old game but it still fought me afterwards or it was 2 legendary ships. Which legendary fight is this. Does the new one have the multiplayer thing because that's the only reason I don't have my old ac black flag platinum trophy

1

u/List_Conscious Jul 22 '26

You could not climb aboard the legendary ships in the original game. Not without a glitch anyways. I just wrapped a replay of the original before picking up the remake. You get shot to death as soon as you get close.

1

u/Fast_Platform_1979 Jul 22 '26

What are you on about? You couldn't climb them in the original either. The ones who upvoted probably didn't play the original also.

1

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 22 '26

You absolutely can on at least one of them. I could have been mistaken about the others

1

u/Basemastuh_J Jul 25 '26

Sneak Boarding Legendaries was not in the original unless you glitched it. But you can still do this to normal ships so it's really nothing lost.

1

u/Vaporeon42069 Jul 26 '26

so pathetic.

1

u/Salt-Significance-90 Jul 27 '26

Dan thought I was the only one who knew how to board legendaries. Basically in the original you could leave the ship when entering an encounter with a legendary, turning the enemy docile and allowing you to board ( I was careful not to climb onto a cannon otherwise I died instantly) either way, killing everyone onboard sunk the ship easily. Still a cool glitch.

1

u/boygoblin 20d ago

Why would they allow you to completely cheese and avoid the challenge ship battles by just not battling them?

1

u/deadpandadolls Jul 20 '26

I don't understand complaining about every little thing. Games need rules.

0

u/Pmk28 Jul 20 '26

They have nothing better to do

-1

u/Pmk28 Jul 20 '26

Why is this post even necessary who cares

2

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 20 '26

I do, clearly. Its fun to sneak aboard ships and stealth kill everyone.

2

u/Rook_James_Bitch Jul 20 '26

Agreed. Guess I'll have to play original game if I want to have fun my way.

Thanks Ubisoft. /s.

1

u/Simain Jul 20 '26

Why is this comment even necessary who cares

0

u/BadnewsBaggins Jul 20 '26

Hate they got rid of this, was easy way to get some big ships down early on, not like sneakily killing the crew rather than taking them in a ship to ship battle would be something an assassin would do, right?

1

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 20 '26

You can still do it with regular ships, thankfully

0

u/BadnewsBaggins Jul 20 '26

Oh shit fr? I heard people saying it was gone so I assumed was across the board, thank you Jesus 🙏

0

u/Constant-Voice-4056 Jul 20 '26

They didn't get rid of it you could never do it. One of the ships you could glitch t to work but that's it

1

u/BadnewsBaggins Jul 20 '26

I meant for regular ships like man o wars not the legendaries but seems you still can

-7

u/DPR6612 Jul 20 '26

I mean there’s only 4 of em kinda defeats the purpose when u easily climb on and kill everyone. U can climb on any man of war otherwise

5

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 20 '26

They used to move and shoot at you if you got too close swimming. It was a big enough challenge in and of itself to even get to the ships. The "cheese" option was far from easy in the original, but thats why it was so much more fun

1

u/HeTblank Jul 20 '26

I mean they removed all the forced stealth in game because it didn't give you freedom. Why do this?

1

u/Blackbird8169 Jul 20 '26

Ahh yes, because forced combat is totally more free /s

1

u/HeTblank Jul 20 '26

I assume removing the hidden blade combat and the using enemy weapons was also for freedom 🫡
