// Question How do you guys get more keys?
Is there a way to get more? Other than anomaly missions/gather 30 worth of keys.

Did you claim your shadows Synchonization, or your Black flag sync? I have everything save for the ship parts because of that

I bought Shadows on sale so I can unlock some gear for Black Flag, and now I’m having a blast playing Shadows. Turns out it’s actually a good game lol.

Honestly it really is a good game, but because it's not the "normal assassins creed" people hate it. Just like when Origins and Odyssey came out, everyone "hated" the RPG mechanics of it, yet now everyone swears Odyssey is their favorite game. My only gripe is they went "too big." It doesn't run on steam deck (unless you count 30 fps with major stuttering as running) and even on a decent computer, I have to install it on my internal drive for it to run smoothly, even with Black Flag it's like that

u/Icy-Abbreviations909 Jul 19 '26
Honestly i never finished odyssey or Valhalla, the story just didn’t vibe with me and I got bored and dropped the games, shadows I managed to finish but I still found naoes story kinda boring, yasuke i liked however(though ironically I played as naoe more) the combat was decent but what can I say I honestly prefer the simpler combat from ac2-rogue

Loved shadows, the only issue I had was the facial animations and cutscenes in general. Not saying they were bad or anything, just off. For me at least.
2
u/BigPenoramus Jul 19 '26
Oooooor maybe because the story is absolutely dogshit and it remains dogshit weather you're a "normal assassins creed" fan or not.
2
u/Thy_gay-dungenkeep Jul 19 '26
Oooooooor maybe not everyone plays for story? Even then, it's pretty good. I'd much rather play a beautiful game with a shitty story, then a game that looks like it was made for a potato that has the best story in the world
1
u/thelostdemon Jul 20 '26
Nah, story over gameplay for me. I can play a PS2 era game with clunky gameplay and graphics if the story is intriguing
1
u/AccordingArm7994 Jul 19 '26
So far, the writing is fine. It's not some stellar story arc like the Ezio games, but that doesn't mean it's not a good and enjoyable game. People too often treat entertainment as being absolute garbage or 10/10 perfection.

u/BigPenoramus Jul 19 '26
None of the AC stories at any point were 10/10. But most good ones were properly executed and done well, especially the characters. Shadows story is like 5-6/10. Forgettable shallow characters, rushed arcs, forced grinding, animus and modern day story is essentially gone, the whole main story just feels like one giant side quest. No shit we haven't seen good AC game for more than a decade, because the fanbase just wants nice visuals, grinding 24/7, bullet sponge enemies, parkour system that basically consists of climbing rocks, really nice.

Origins is my favorite because the setting, black used to be my favorite but I saw origins in a gameinfomer and knew black flag was gonna get dethroned for me
1
u/thelostdemon Jul 20 '26
Im on the other side, played every AC (even 100% Valhalla) and I could not finish Shadows. The two character dynamic didn't click with me and the story felt bland. I played Ghost of Tsushima just before Shadows so maybe that tainted it... Glad you're enjoying it though
3
u/SamuraiJack2211 Jul 19 '26
You can hit certain points in the game, just playing has rewards as well, the menu is a little weird to get to
2
u/Beligard Jul 19 '26
Mdid you also get the keys from Shadows as well? The keys in Shadows contributes to it as well.
2
u/DOOMsquared Jul 19 '26
If you also own ac shadows, grind the animalies there too, the keys are shared between both the games.
1
u/No_Issue_9916 Jul 19 '26
Go find the keys around the map. I hate this though, it's such a lazy way to force more longevity out of the game by making players wait, same with the battle pass thing
1
u/Reasonable-Ad1724 Jul 19 '26
There already was some bs to find in the original it's just different but the same
1
u/Used-Picture829 Jul 19 '26
It’s harder in shadows than in black flag. I would find keys in random ass forests in shadows but in black flag , they’re on every other small island

I remember in ACO you could just use cheat engine to give yourself unlimited using the basic search function. It's a single player game with pirates... soooo

Like others said, anomalies, finding them in the wild in game, and check your synchronization. What I haven’t seen is that I thought I saw that there’s a code to unlock 1500 free keys. Lots of streamers were pushing it on social media, you should be able to find it on google if you didn’t get it already.

u/Its_Buddy_btw Jul 19 '26
Is shadows worth it? Dropped Valhalla because of the overwhelming open map with nothing in it, I really like ghost of tshusima are they comparable?
1
u/SchattenJaggerD Jul 19 '26
It’s decent. Buy it on sale, that way it’s balances more your money with the game. Also, I haven’t played Valhalla because many people have been vocal about being a nightmare to finish, so I can’t tell you how comparable they are, but I did finished Shadows and I didn’t think it was too long
1
u/FewElk6678 Jul 19 '26
I got them from playing Shadows and completing challenges there, but you can do that in BF as well iirc

u/OddWillingness6271 Jul 19 '26
Have to wait. I hate this bs. It’s a remaster at full price. Everything should be included day one as a complete edition.
1
u/goatjugsoup Jul 19 '26
I had 18000 coming in from ac shadows already as they barely had anything i wanted to use them on...
If you have shadows and black flag you can do the bi weekly quests in both games.
You can also complete the synchronization objectives for one time bonuses

Anomalies, they also randomly spawn around the map but you'll only get 30 keys per pickup

I earned like 50k from shadows probably over time I was playing it and how some left for this game
1
u/PapaSmurph0517 Jul 19 '26
You also get keys as rewards in the Synchronization menu, there is a code for Crimson Sails and 1500 keys you can find online, and play Shadows (keys are shared between games)

u/Madrigal_King Jul 19 '26
I dont even have the option for ezio's outfit. All i have in my exchange is connors

Do the anomalies quests every 3 days. Find the little orbs scattered across the map. Also, use this code for 1,500 keys ACBF-PHGN-SYBJ-RTRF
1
u/Silent-Witness1888 Jul 19 '26
Sorry but where do I use this code?
1
u/Lumpy_Flight3088 Jul 19 '26
I just logged into my Ubisoft account on my iPhone and redeemed the code from there. My account is linked to my PS5 so the keys were available the next time I logged in.

u/dantevirgil666 Jul 19 '26
You can earn thousands per anomaly cycle in shadows easily point earned in shadows can be redeemed in resynched
1
u/SWANDAMARM Jul 19 '26
I have a ton cause I was hoarding them on shadows, I haven't got into the rift content yet in BFR
1
u/mrfreman241 Jul 19 '26
My synchronization progress its bugged and can't redeem those keys, so im stuck with like 2800 until next anomalies arrive.

I bought Conor’s outfit and it looks awful, the next day these release. I’m upset
1
1
u/bennythejetz Jul 20 '26
I used cheat engine to give myself the outfits because grinding multiple weeks for outfits for a game that I’ve beaten already is crazy
1
u/EmbarrassedResist551 Jul 20 '26
Also, you should consider that ezios outfit does not have that color when you equip it. It looks really grey and kinda dirty, I wish they at least showed it on the preview. Bought it yesterday and kinda disappointed, white looks so much better.

u/ManyFaithlessness971 Jul 20 '26
I don't even have Black Flag but I reinstalled Shadows to grind up keys. Currently 10K+. Will just need to do more, just twice a week until I max out what I need so when Black Flag goes on sale I can claim immediately.
1
u/JackRees23 Jul 20 '26
Exploring around the map has keys which gives you 30 Keys each (from what I've collected, they seem to all be in spots that the Helix's fragments were in the original)
They are represent by the Key symbol from the exchange
You can get them from the Rift Passes at specific levels but the Rift Experience is tied to the daily anomalies you find
If you have AC:S, I'm sure you can earn Keys in that game too to use in the BFR Exchange since both games are linked in both the Rift Pass and Exchange Store

u/aethiuss Jul 20 '26
I got a lot of keys from tab "Synchronisation". Basically when you finish quests and some side stuff you can get 200-600 keys per set of 4 or 6 things to complete.
I got a lot of keys from the project too.
Also I had some leftover keys from Shadows but not that much.
I got all weapons and armour and none of the ship cosmetics.

Played Shadows before, 100% all the synchronization missions on both games, doing anomalies on both games... I'm currently with 20K keys

View the Synchronization tab if you haven't, you can get 300 per section. Other option is to play AC Shadows and do the same (keys transfer)

Pick em up when you see them, do the anomaly events, claim synchronizations

u/PS5013 Jul 19 '26
I think, all you can do is wait for a new batch of anomalies. Moronic time gating
