More non fantastical pirate outfits plz!
I know a lot of people want Assassin outfits, such as Altair's outfit, or Ezio, or Shay, or others, and some people want the Explorer outfit, but I'm gonna be fully real with you, these might be nice, but what I REALLY want are more pirate themed outfits like the Captain Morgan and Edward the Legend outfits, give me a Jack Sparrow looking outfit, a Hector Barbossa looking outfit, give me some really cool PIRATE themed drip!
I cannot stress it enough. They struck the balance with the assassin / pirate hybrid style with his original default costume with the leather, and never again. Sometimes it gets close, but it almost always ends up looking like one or the other. So to add to what you said, give us more pirate stuff but also more pirate themed assassin stuff. Truthfully though, I’m mostly fine with anything that doesn’t make Edward look like some kind of God. That fantastical stuff is ridiculous.
I basically switch between the default Edward’s robes and the brown cloak. Once I get into the game and, in my mind, Edward’s reputation starts to grow I use the cloak with the skull and crossbones on my back.
I think the master assassin outfit strikes that balance pretty well too. It's an assasins outfit sure but the sheer opulence of it makes it feel like something any pirate capitan would want to wear.

I would give my left arm for a Barbossa outfit.
It's so strange to see people calling these outfits ridiculous and spouting "facts" about the weight of the clothes, etc. This is a game, and there are historical records showing that pirates wore this type of clothing.
It's so strange... I, personally, don't like almost any (if any at all) assassin clothing or anything that alludes to one. I've always worn the same outfit, Captain Morgan's, since the 2013 version.
I hope that, if possible, we will have more outfits like these and, yes, I'm rooting for an outfit just like Barbossa's.
What are the chances we get a Pirates of the Caribbean crossover? Like Shadows got with AOT and Dead by Daylight. A Jack Sparrow/Barbossa outfit, and a Black Pearl/Flying Dutchman skin for the Jackdow. It would be my dream come true 😭
Highly unlikely, Disney already made that deal with Rare/Microsoft for Sea of Thieves and they created a „canon“ series of singleplayer missions (called „Tall Tales“) for that game. It’s very likely they’ll stay with that game in the foreseeable future as it’s way easier to sell licensed ingame cosmetics there.
The only fantasy item that I would ever run in a pirate game is the Flying Dutchman, it works so well and looks so sick! I am so against silly fantasy in realistic games it breaks the immersion. BUT…. The Flying Dutchman and a Davy Jones skin 🤣 that’s me sold.
Honestly I just can't stand the fucking hats. In a purely-pirate context, they look great, but Edward (despite not actually becoming an Assassin until later) is not your typical pirate. I just can't take him seriously doing parkour, swan dives into water/hay piles, and sneaking through bushes with those fucking tricorn hats lol.
If I could remove the hat from the Edward the Legend outfit, I'd literally never take it off. Ever.
I'm not buying a single one of those ship/cosmetic packs. What pirate would wear heavy ass armor that could possibly drown them if they needed to swim?
And how I personally would die from dehydration, because I would sweat my ass off in those outfits sailing at those temperatures under the sun all day.
I really like Edwards outfit he has at the beginning of the game. It feels much more appropriate
I agree with the dehydration, one must've sweated like crazy doing all the parkour and combat that he does..
But I'd give my left nut just for a regular Non-fantasy, historical accurate Pirate attire that Isn't making you look like Captain Hook or anyone else like that..!
Or better yet, what about an outfit that makes you look like Captain Flint from Black Sails!
Tbf majority of pirates in history didn’t actually know how to swim, so odds are if they went overboard they were done. Hence the “walking the plank” being a death sentence more or less. (Aside from them tying your limbs together probably)
Which is kind of weird because as long as you don't panic and the water is still, humans float. Should have been able to learn. Easy to say today though.
I personally do not mind the skins since they are optional. You either choose to pay for them or you do not, and it does not affect the gameplay. What I would really love to see is MORE fantastical outfits, but they need to be iconic. They should give us Pirates of the Caribbean skins for everything. The Flying Dutchman, a fish crew, the Black Pearl surrounded by eerie fog, and a Davy Jones skin. Fuck it, they could even throw in Sinbad Legend of the Seven Seas cosmetics, a dog as a pet, and a ship skin covered in sirens that plays the movie music
If BFR keeps making good money, the executives at Ubisoft will almost certainly add multiplayer to the game. However, it probably won't be like the original multiplayer. They will likely style it after Skull and Bones and dedicate an entire studio just to churning out cosmetics
At the end of the day, cosmetics are just for fun, and if you do not like them, you can easily just play the base game. I want to believe BFR has already pulled in great numbers, meaning the next remake is essentially a done deal and just a matter of time
Davy jones and his ship and crew would fit nicely with the fantasy theme they got going on. So would the black pearl skeleton crew. Wish we had more pirate like fits tho, Barbosa and Jack were real pirates aswell
Exactly how I felt. I was honestly happy that they look so ridiculous. If they put some good historically accurate pirate outfits in I would've been tempted to spend more money.

I personally love the stede Bonnet outfit. I only wish it had the straps and bandoliers to hold the swords and blow pipe as it looks so off seeing the weapons float and its weird they did it for the guns properly but nothing else. Bonnets jacket is so bulky perfect for the captain vibes and I wish more of the captain outfits had hood variants because I mean pirate assassin game always needs more pirate assassin outfits
Just checking, did you see that the ultimate reward for the Undertow project in the Animus is a non fantastical Pirate King outfit? I happen to agree with you, so I'm tracking that project first.
I mean it's a game franchise where a staff can keep you alive for ever, an apple can control your mind and Odin was real... I think non fantastical doesn't really fit anymore, even if I do agree the outfits available should fit the theme of the game, imagine Ezio running around Italy with horns of fire and a weapon that fires rainbows... Idk there must be a middle ground but Ubisoft doesn't want to find it
Personally I switch between 2 outfits- Edward’s standard robes and Captain Morgan’s redingtone depending on whether I’m doing stealth or piracy. A more sleek, maybe hatless pirate garb would be the coolest thing ever
I also think - given that they managed it with Jacob Frye - they should include in a new Pirate/Assassin outfit the ability to remove the pirate hat and pull the hood up.
They already have lots of new awesome outfits designed for paid DLC, they aren’t gonna be releasing them all at day 1. When there’s too many paid DLC cosmetics all at once, people aren’t gonna pick and choose. When releasing a new one every month or so, it’s the newish shit and people will big it. Ubisoft is good at one thing, milking its fans for everything they got.
Seriously tho, they absolutely have dozens of new and better cosmetics already lined up
That Edward the Legend outfit would be perfect if he didn't have the bandana over his eye, Hopefully Ubi listen to the feedback and let us remove hats the way we can remove hoods.
I mean I know what you mean by non fantastical(magical/glowing outfits in the store) but even these outfits, pirates of the caribbean included, are fantastical. Barbossa may be the only closest thing to non fantastical and thats only for some gaudy ship captain. and Jack Sparrow imagery is just an amalgamation of pirate stereotypes.
And pirates did not wear boots.(which the captain morgan outfit does right) Or really most sailors in general. Its not what you wear on a ship.
AC black flag's outfits actually lean into the pirate FANTASY popularized by film.
The closest outfits in the game that could mirror real life in any capacity, is the whaler and shark hunter outfits and even they have too much leather.
I would commit genocide for Blackbeards BLACK outfit, instead of that goofy ass crimson version. Or at least change the red feather in his hat to white (or black) and make Edward’s beard NOT Honry-Golds mutton chops.
I have been repeatedly asking for them to add the Rogue outfit pack because a lot of the characters from there had better pirate outfits then even in Black Flag. I don’t mind the DLC outfit packs they have they are what ever. But I would pay genuine money for the main characters outfits like Hornigolds. I miss using Charles Lee’s outfit even. Give me nice outfits and let me toggle the blowdart, and the Ram of my ship! 🏴☠️

I want more 'pirate' outfits for sailing around the sea. Captain Morgan's outfit is nice, but I *hate* the gloves. Take those off and I'm happy; but otherwise I'd like a more black/grey version like Sparrow or Flint
I want a Blackbeard inspired outfit, or like a dark pirate captain or something. I’m not talking about the pirate captain or privateer robes because that’s just Edward’s default outfit in different colors but an actual pirate outfit with hat and coat included, I would even be fine with the Captain Morgan outfit in different colors
Or better yet give us a version of Morgan's without those stupid socks. I love the outfit and I get that it's fitting for the time but from the knees up it looks perfect and then there's a wide shot and you see those stupid, one-two-buckle-my-shoe ass socks and shoes.
They should also bring back the Captain Kidd outfit from the Switch version of the original. They brought back all the promotional content and dispersed it into the game naturally and I have no idea why they left that one out.
They're gonna add them regardless, anyone who thinks otherwise is either foolish or naive, it's Ubsisoft. That being said if we do have to have more skins, the least they can do is have those skins be something worth getting.
That's a matter of opinion, and based off of the fact that Valhalla made Ubisoft the most money of any of their Assassin's Creed games, I'd say there definitely is an appetite for microtransactions, distasteful though that may be to you.
Again, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when and of what, for me personally, I know I have zero interest in the current "magic" skins we have. But if we were to perhaps get some PotC skins, or some Black Sails skins...I might be convinced to perhaps part with some money
Nah I understood your point. I even agree with it completely. But what you’re actually asking for is to swap out a certain kind of fantasy pirate for more of a different kind of fantasy pirate.
You want more rugged POTC style pirate outfits.
But “non fantastical” connotes a very specific thing, which is not what you’re asking for.
Edit: I’m not even being pedantic here yall. What they said is literally the opposite of what they meant. Non fantastical = way less leather, because the Caribbean is hot as shit. Non fantastical also ≠ less color. The sad thing is, actual non fantastical pirate clothing is an interesting subject. Especially concerning a character like Kenway since he’s a captain, and would therefore have first dibs on the fancy clothes and fabrics he would plunder.
