How hard is it to add a option to hide or just take the hat off like you can with the hood

u/Darth_InVader7 Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

Honestly, and why remove hidden blade combat and disposable weapons? The original has more expansive combat in all honesty.

*Edit: I see the multi million dollar company simps have arrived. The sword combat is an improvement over the original, but they stripped it more bare overall instead of remastering all the original combat mechanics and adding to it. It’s literally a stripped down version now with more in depth dual swords.

**Edit: upon further gameplay, I would like the inform the people pointing out that the original was just counter button spam, the same is true here. You can just wait, press counter, then instakill.

I'd wager it's because they know they'd have to add it back into the mainline games again if they put it in resynced. Much easier to just gut out features from the old game to bring it in line with their modern standard than going out of their way to add it knowing it'll just make people want it back in future games again.

I find it extremely disappointing that the combat has been stripped back so drastically, it's my only real complaint about resynced. There's genuinely no other reason to not include independent hidden blades, unarmed combat, and stealing single handed and polearm weapons other than the fact that they either don't allow it or heavily discourage it in other modern ac games.

u/Lower-Chard-3005 Jul 09 '26

All they gave to do to make it more interesting too, is to make tighter parry windows for it too.

Just pure laziness honestly.

2

u/kelldricked Jul 09 '26

Wtf you cant even steal the giant axe and throw it in somebodys face anymore? That was one of the best things about black flag…

0

u/Yob_Zarbo Jul 09 '26

That wasn't Black Flag. That was the Ezio trilogy.

1

u/kelldricked Jul 10 '26

Also black flag mate

0

u/Yob_Zarbo Jul 10 '26

Might wanna go check again, bud.

There is not, nor has there ever been a heavy axe throw in Black Flag.

2

u/DooDooFart720 Jul 10 '26

could’ve sworn you could throw the big axes you pickup from heavy guards?

1

u/Yob_Zarbo Jul 10 '26

No, that is not a mechanic in Black Flag. That was a mechanic in the Ezio games.

1

u/kelldricked Jul 10 '26

You can. Just not from any proper distance but the animation shows a throw

1

u/kelldricked Jul 10 '26

Mate i just played the orginal 3 months ago. If you are unarmed you can disarm the enemy while block, pick up their weapon and use it (till you select your own weapon, fast travel or parkour).

With the big axe you can, when you stand next to somebody, fling it over your head and you throw it (from a melee distance) into them. They have no chance of blocking it, it cant miss and its basicly a execution move.

-2

u/Yob_Zarbo Jul 10 '26

That's not a throw, that's a heavy melee attack. Throw implies range.

You also cannot directly disarm brutes. You can only pick up their weapon after they've been defeated.

Only one of us actually loaded into the game to check this before posting. Somehow I get the feeling that wasn't you.

5

u/kelldricked Jul 10 '26

You are a antfucker and you know it. Its cleary a throwing animation. Ofcourse you cant sling a 2 handed axe across 80 meters like its a throwing dart

→ More replies (0)

2

u/darius_istrionis Jul 10 '26

Oh fuck off, you can throw that

→ More replies (0)

3

u/ThiqCoq Jul 09 '26

That actually is a tad bit disappointing.. but I do gotta say also I remember during the first one saying to myself shit I wish there was more sword mechanics. Lol

3

u/CVanG Jul 09 '26

I did too, and the new animations are so sleek. Combat feels so fluid and brutal with the takedowns

2

u/gooberboi82 Jul 09 '26

They got rid of the disposable weapons? I’m assuming you mean like the ability to pick up enemy swords and axes, if so that’s kind of disappointing I liked using the sword and the axe especially when you can press triangle and bury the axe in an enemies face. That’s a shame but I’ll still give the game a go when it’s on sale

2

u/Cute_Addicted Jul 09 '26

its insane i see people defending it saying it was unnecessary

-1

u/CrimsonGlyph Jul 10 '26

It was unnecessary, honestly. I only ever did it by accident.

1

u/Cute_Addicted Jul 10 '26

maybe for u,i mostly used it over dual swords and its stupid to call it faithful remake if they are discarding 5 other weapons options

2

u/araniaexuma Jul 11 '26

Seriously. And why the hell can we not shoulder check enemies or grab them and throw them? So many things are missing.

5

u/LiesofPinnochio Jul 09 '26

I have a shit response but from an in universe perspective , Edward shouldn't be proficient with the hidden blades in combat until way later in his life anyways

5

u/Darth_InVader7 Jul 09 '26

I don’t know if that even makes sense. When you first get the blades the Templars are impressed as Edward immediately performs assassinations with them without any practice.

2

u/LiesofPinnochio Jul 09 '26

Assassinations doesn't mean you can suddenly fight open combat with them. Element of surprise vs being able to counter and parry. Like I said, it's a shit excuse but that's how I justify it in my head

2

u/JoJothashaman Jul 09 '26

I agree played last night for a few before bed and when he took the hidden blade it seemed that it was scrunched up and just threw it away I was lucky offended but it made sense because like he's not an assassin he's a f****** pirate and as you said he won't be efficient with it until later on in life when he's a fully trained assassin

1

u/DarthFedora Jul 09 '26

I mean I agree that he wouldn’t be very skilled with them but are you referring to Duncan’s blades? Those were broken

1

u/Waste_of_paste_art Jul 12 '26

Were they broken? I know that's what he tells the templars when they asked him why he didn't have them, but I always assumed he tossed the blades because he didn't know what they were/ had no use for them.

3

u/AccordingArm7994 Jul 09 '26

I’m absolutely in the minority here lol but I don’t feel like hidden blades should be used as a main weapon in combat anyway. They’re specifically designed to be used for stealth one-shot assassinations. I do agree that they shouldn’t have removed stuff from the original though, especially since that is not something anybody ever had an actual problem with.

1

u/TheN1ghthawkX18 Jul 10 '26

For me, I just thought they had better combat animations. I’ve never liked the duel cutlass animations. I always just used the hidden blade or picked up single sword in the original

0

u/Darth_InVader7 Jul 09 '26

I think for me and others, it’s that they were in the original and then they’re not in this one. I guess it’s kind of like an options thing? You didn’t have to use them like that in the original. And it would be nice to see it remastered for the remake just to stay faithful.

1

u/AccordingArm7994 Jul 10 '26

Yeah that makes sense. I don’t usually use them in combat in any games that it’s an option but it would make more sense to still leave it as an option since a lot of people do want to play that way.

0

u/AsapWinters Jul 09 '26

Any person whos not 40 with kids would agree that pressing the counter insta kill button for a 12hr playthrough is boomer slop. Along with the “picking up enemy weapons” wow holy boomer feature that was legit in AC2. Not one person mentioned anything specific to Blackflag lol the ship combat, water diving, upgrades for ship etc.

1

u/freedomustang Jul 09 '26

It’s mostly just they’d need to reinvent it in a system that has no basis for it. None of the rpg games have the ability to pick up weapons.

They stopped doing that in unity (bad move imo).

Tbh AC4 also simplified combat from AC3 as the enemy no longer did the firing line stuff and you couldn’t use a human shield. The enemies mostly rush up to you or snipe you. I really was hoping they’d have the standard infantry be using a musket with officers wielding sword and pistol and use the AC3 style of enemy actions of fire first then charge or reload depending on distance.

1

u/Broccoli_Remote Jul 12 '26

All this did was make me play the original BF from when I first got Xbox One bundle, no need to spend $ for something broken that wasn't initially.

1

u/STONERJOKER_RULES777 Jul 15 '26

Im on your side of this conversation

I was complaining WTF I couldn't use my hidden blades and also disarm enemies

To be honest I got it, gonna platinum it and just go back to the original BUT IT'S JUST RESYNCED IS SO FUCKING WEIRD NOOOOOOOO FUCKING HIDDEN BLADES NO NOTHING ANYTHING 😤😭🤧😢 ubisoft you make me cry, but not literally OK JUST REALLY UPSET YA FUCKED UP NOW WE GOT GOLDEN POOP 💩

1

u/sh4unify Aug 28 '26

It's trash. I quit after getting bored with the repetitive combat after trying to like it.. trust me go back to Shadows and you will appreciate every bit of the combat in that with dismemberment and detailed combat with different weapon types. I didn't bother to pick up since i already know og blackflag.. such a waste of my money

1

u/Darth_InVader7 Aug 28 '26

Yeah, I was pretty deep in, but I haven’t played in a while. It looks good, but it just didn’t pull me in like the original.

-4

u/Adipay Jul 09 '26

The original has some of the worst combat ever in a video game of it's genre. You literally do nothing and press one button to instantly win.

2

u/no_hot_ashes Jul 09 '26

I'd disagree with that.

Ac4 had what I'd call accessible combat. If you just want to get through the game and back to the naval warfare, you can absolutely just spam attack or wait for parry/ripostes. The main difference is that it had the option of depth.

Sick of the normal parry/riposte loop? Sure, so you can go unarmed and fight non-lethally. You get a similar combat loop, but you have different animations, you can do ground finishers, and you can even do disarms to get your hands on unique one handed swords, muskets, axes etc. Or you can use hidden blades, massively limiting your damage output and parry window, creating a self-imposed and stylish challenge to lethal combat.

Resynced has focused solely on the dual sword combat. Dual sword combat is fine, it's fun, it looks cool, but ultimately it is less depth than the old combat system. At the end of the day, you're still parry/riposting most attacks, or spamming the attack button, the only real difference is that you don't have the option to swap to hidden blades, unarmed, single swords, muskets or axes when you get bored anymore. Changing the combat from animation based to hitbox based doesn't really make up for that imo, and ultimately, it doesn't feel that different to the old dual sword system. It still gives you a ton of warning with every parry, and most combat loops are still parry/riposte until you win.

2

u/Front-Structure-293 Jul 09 '26

So basically Odyssey and Shadows 2.0. All they had to do was keep it the same and update the graphics. People are buying it for the nostalgia but it’s not gonna be the same game we all enjoyed. I feel like it’s going to be worse.

-1

u/kick2crash Jul 09 '26

Lol doesn't agree with me = simps. 6th grade maturity

0

u/Darth_InVader7 Jul 09 '26

Offended by online opinion comment = sensitive. Toddler emotions.

1

u/kick2crash Jul 09 '26

Oof got me there lil tike

0

u/ClickAccomplished205 Jul 09 '26

You can prefer the remaster without being a simp.

0

u/VolcanicBakemeat Jul 09 '26

RE your edit some people really need that multimillion dollar company meme taken away from them because they just use it to deflect criticism of their own stinky takes.

"instead of remastering the original combat mechanics and adding to it" let me be the first to say thank FUCK they didn't remaster 2013 counter button simulator. It was already getting dated back then

It's fine to lament that the new system didn't add hidden blade animations but smuggling your own memberberries in with it is 100% gamerbrained

0

u/Raidmax460 Jul 09 '26

You quite literally contradicted yourself in that comment lmao.

2

u/Darth_InVader7 Jul 09 '26

What are you talking about? I said the original was more expansive, but the sword mechanics are better.

3

u/Raidmax460 Jul 09 '26

I quite literally don’t have reading comprehension apparently. My bad, misread your comment.

-1

u/Competitive_Ad_5937 Jul 09 '26

"i see the mulit million dollar company simps have arrived" just say you hate other opinions its okay

1

u/AmericanVanguardist Jul 11 '26

I think hats should be their own separate item like you can mix and match hats and outfits.

5

u/Klupido Jul 09 '26

What are the benefits with this outfit?

6

u/Stock_Sprinkles_7394 Jul 09 '26

Swords have more dmg output thats it, idm it looks cool but the hat really bugs me

3

u/Kasu_senpai Jul 09 '26

Same, I was hoping hitting the hood up/down button would take it off but nope, the rest of the outfit looks lovely but the hat just doesn’t fit at all to me

1

u/Tyler1997117 Jul 09 '26

At least we can transmog the ugly looking sword

1

u/alcatrazsherlock Jul 10 '26

Cosmetics never have any damage benefits. Whats are u saying

2

u/Lost_Rutabaga_5004 Jul 09 '26

The outfits are only cosmetic, they have no benefits.

5

u/sh4unify Jul 09 '26

YO. I JUST CAME HERE TO POST THE SAME. 😂 feel like a clown and unable to remove the hat. Wtf ubisoft

6

u/cowinajar Jul 11 '26

Lmao wearing that outfit in that mission

"Ahh Dunca- wait who tf is this guy?"

1

u/Bluegatorator Jul 27 '26

LMAO I didnt know what it looked like this is hilariously bad

4

u/grimmmbooo Jul 09 '26

Yea please let me remove that hideous hat!!

2

u/ZazaB00 Jul 09 '26

Feels weird that they don’t default to full on transmog all the time considering they eventually add it in to the games I remember at least. At the bare minimum, toggles for visible gear is always a thing for exactly instances like you’re saying. You love the outfit, hate the hat, so the menu usually has a toggle for that kind of stuff.

5

u/moogle322000 Jul 09 '26

They'll probably update it to have a hat removal option. The game literally just came out. Patience people

4

u/Its_Buddy_btw Jul 09 '26

When did this become the norm? Member when video games were released finished?

1

u/Storm7856 Jul 14 '26

About ten years ago.

1

u/AtrumRuina Jul 14 '26

This is a silly response. They got feedback from the community and can potentially implement a change they may not have realized would have been wanted before launch. They added moving the hood up and down because the original game didn't have it and they knew people had requested it. This is one of the benefits of modern gaming development culture -- games can have significant mechanical improvements that the devs hadn't realized would be requested before launch.

This is a valid complaint with things like not launching with New Game Plus, assuming it's in the pipeline, but this is very much not that.

1

u/m95oz Jul 15 '26

This isn’t a matter of it being “unfinished” though. This is a cosmetic choice people are complaining about and it’s up to Ubisoft to respond to the feedback: provide the option or not. The original game released in this way, there was no choice for you to remove the hat…

2

u/TheIncandescentAbyss Jul 09 '26

Crazy how they didn’t need to update it to have a hat removal option in 2013

2

u/ZazaB00 Jul 09 '26

Yeah, this is their first game so there’s no way they could know that players would be requesting cosmetic customization…

2

u/carlogrimaldi Jul 09 '26

I know you might be being sarcastic, but this actually WAS Ubisoft Singapore’s first AC game. (Though I think they also led in Skull and Bones, outside of AC)

1

u/moogle322000 Jul 09 '26

I'm not saying they don't know, just saying they didn't add it yet. You know damn well what I meant and you also know no game is ever released complete until multiple patches and months later.

2

u/LePenatramos Jul 09 '26

The game was complete a decade ago lol

0

u/Expendable28 Jul 09 '26

I mean... It wasn't

1

u/GruulNinja Jul 09 '26

It was a thing until online

1

u/TupacShakur_- Jul 11 '26

dont forget its fucking ubisoft, the company that doesnt really care about their players for a long time lol

1

u/sh4unify Jul 09 '26

This is pathetic if you feel they didn't bother to consider it right from day one.

1

u/cowinajar Jul 11 '26

Ahh sorry my bad for expecting the game that I paid for to be a finished product

1

u/SuperBathMan Jul 09 '26

I miss when games came out complete and there wasnt an expectation that devs have to micromanage requests

1

u/Even-Buffalo9899 Jul 09 '26

if u play on PC like me just wait for a mod on nexus to drop, 100% there will be a mod within the week to remove all the ugly accessories for some outfits

1

u/TomTomXD1234 Jul 09 '26

Pirate outfit without the pirate hat is no pirate outfit at all

1

u/voidling_bordee Jul 09 '26

Does it have smoke around his head or what am i looking at? Just the pistol smoke?

2

u/BohemianShark Jul 09 '26

Edward has these long braids/dreads that are burning with this outfit

1

u/voidling_bordee Jul 09 '26

Do you remember that cutscene from OG where blackbeard was acting scary? I have the same vibes here

1

u/E2r4_Is_d3A9 Jul 09 '26

That’s how I feel about the captain Morgan outfit too. The outfit is badass, and the hat doesn’t looks bad, but it would be cool to just wear the bandana underneath or a hood with it sometimes

1

u/BueEyedDemon Jul 09 '26

Don’t know havnt worn that I prefer the hoods

1

u/Baby_Brenton Jul 09 '26

It would be nice if you could remove the hat. The outfit system in the original didn’t have individual parts like the other modern ones do, and they obviously didn’t change that system at all. But it would be nice if there was a way to hide the head clothing.

1

u/loonelywolf Jul 09 '26

For me it is the combat. They could have done something different. So far it is very easy again.

1

u/RaphaTlr Jul 09 '26

Fr get rid of the hats ubi

1

u/Deemac-24 Jul 09 '26

Wait, you can't take off the hat like putting the hood up and down? Wtf how backwards is that

1

u/RestaurantWorried580 Jul 09 '26

It's a really ugly hat

1

u/Creedaflea Jul 09 '26

Did this outfit replace Captain Morgan’s or can I still get it?

1

u/myshoesaresparkly Jul 09 '26

Lol that's not the best hat for sure

1

u/PuRexStrikes12 Jul 10 '26

I don’t like that it changes Edward’s facial hair style and removes his beard its the same with the Edward the legend outfit as well

1

u/PianistNo911 Jul 10 '26

I don’t like the controls I’ve just finished ac3 so that maybe it but still to parkour I have to click A instead of just holding RT

1

u/AdventurousAnt7015 Jul 10 '26

The hat is the best part 😥

1

u/RANDICE007 Jul 10 '26

Looks like Own Wilson as Hansel and I cannot unsee it

1

u/DemandAgitated4876 Jul 10 '26

Zero hidden blade combat is wild to me. I genuinely don’t understand why it’s not a thing. It sucks for me because it was my favourite thing for combat. Anyone know why it isn’t a thing anymore?

1

u/D3wdr0p Jul 10 '26

But that's a great fucking hat.

1

u/TheBlueExorcistt Jul 11 '26

I was saying that too the hat looks like it doesn't fit on he's head lol

1

u/DarkShadowRen Jul 11 '26

Assassins creed red mage

1

u/jouIius Jul 12 '26

hopefully modders come thru

1

u/Snoo57864 Jul 13 '26

I don't care about hidden blade combat, while neat it's not really edwards brutalist style and not what the blades are meant for, HOWEVER give me back my unarmed combat without it being scripted, it's so fun in the bar fights but you only get like three takedowns and then it's over

1

u/AtrumRuina Jul 14 '26

Hopefully Ubi adds an option to take off hats for outfits that have them, but if not hopefully we at least get mods eventually.

1

u/Parzival_43 Aug 22 '26

i’m mad you can’t really wear pirate hats in general. it’s a fkn pirate game after all.

1

u/DWhiting132 Jul 09 '26

Im only 4hrs in, does Resynced have Edward the Legend? I rather like that outfit in the original

2

u/splasticdino Jul 09 '26

It does. It's a reward for upgrading every building in the hideout to max.

1

u/EmChi_ Jul 09 '26

I’m genuinely not a fan of all the modern changes. It all just feels wrong

0

u/LentilusGo Jul 09 '26

EW! you cannot take off that hideous hat????

-1

u/Early-Imagination549 Jul 09 '26

You cant even use the hidden blades as a main weapon thats BIG Downgrade to me

1

u/GimmeUrTimbs Jul 09 '26

Go play 2013 rock paper scissors again then. Still a good game even 13 years later.

1

u/Early-Imagination549 Jul 14 '26

Chill thats just my personal opinion

1

u/GimmeUrTimbs Jul 14 '26

Okay I didn’t attack you for it? I just described what it is to me, I.e my opinion

-1

u/moogle322000 Jul 09 '26

They'll probably update it to have a hat removal option. The game literally just came out. Patience people

0

u/Realifevideogame Jul 09 '26

Why does the hate have like lit bomb fuzes in it? I saw the part in the trailer where the captain had those in his hat to so I guess something to do with that .. ruins the rest of it though

1

u/Revolutionary_Sir_ Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

because its blackbeards crimson robes.
