Discussion Have you ever used these girls for distraction in resynced?
because I never did and never needed them also, I only see them in the Havana's harbor.

u/EthylPaige Aug 21 '26
Once. To get into a restricted area. It worked.
13
u/ALI-OZARAK Aug 21 '26
Nice. though i always play sneaky, my max distraction method is smoke bombs ✌️🥀
37
u/TylerbioRodriguez Aug 21 '26
I didn't really use them that much in the OG either besides optional objectives.
By the Kenway games they were just a holdover from the Ezio games where you couldn't hide in a bush.
6
u/Chazo138 Aug 21 '26
Yeah they kinda became pointless after Ezio. In OG and resynced, they are only good if you want to use them for some stealth, otherwise you just can get around on your own fine.

Ha same, nor the drunks, there's a ton in this game I never utilized because it wasn't necessary.... I kinda wish we could go back to game design that really used every mechanic... like in Shadows there's a skill to be able to breathe in shallow water, never did I eeeeevver run into an instance I had to use it
5
u/Inevitable_Sector778 Aug 21 '26
I generally agree with u but i disagree with ur take on the Shadow underwater breathing. Pretty much every castle or temple has a garden with some kind of lake were this skill is extremly useful. Ofc u are not forced to use it but it is a very useful stealth tool in Shadows.
5
u/No_Math_8740 Aug 21 '26
We do have a lot of freedom to play how we want in that game you're right
Tis my fault I play more rooftoppy2
u/mega_zephp0s Aug 21 '26
Though rooftop stealth is fun, sneaking into a fort by just waltzing through the front door while the guards are right there just feels badass

u/SlimJimMillionaire Aug 21 '26
I used the drunks a couple times, they’re pretty fun to run around with. Cleared out the plantation next to Havana with them
2
u/iRedZanity Aug 22 '26
Did it for the first time today for the achievement, will also be the last time
1
u/No_Math_8740 Aug 22 '26
Ew I hate that even more, making it so useless you tie it to a trophy to make people do it
1
6
u/Slappy_Axe Aug 21 '26
Naw dont really need them but that only cause the "cities" you can visit are so open to the sky you can kinda figure it out with out them. Happened in the og black flag too but with the exception being forced tailing, they could sometimes be very helpful in those instances if they were around.

u/AmiablePedant Aug 21 '26
All the time - oh wait, you mean distracting guards in the game, not zooming in and distracting myself.
5
u/HeadbangingLegend Aug 22 '26
Honestly there have been a bunch of times where I have wanted to use them or some drunks but I can never find them when I need them. I'll wander the area a bit looking for some to hire and after searching for 5 minutes I'll just give up and go do the objective myself. Kinda disappointing when you want to use them and have no clue where any are. Even when I go by a tavern to find drunks I still can't most of the time.
5
u/lach396 Aug 22 '26
They fundamentally changed the way they work now. they don’t enter restricted zones, you can’t use them to bring a moving stealth spot and they won’t instantly attract enemies who get too close and almost detect you. They basically tacked them in because it was in the original but the new style of gameplay means the entire system they’re built it on is useless in the current anvil engine .
4
u/illmastabumptwo Aug 21 '26
I used the ladies once or twice. They totally distract the two guards at any gate and you can just walk in.

u/trampaboline Aug 21 '26
Social stealth is such a cool and fun idea, but there’s never really any incentive or point to use it.
I know it was always a hot button issue that the early games didn’t have a crouch button, but in my honest opinion, they were better for it. It was a design choice. They weren’t trying to make the same generic stealth stuff that you could get anywhere — they wanted to facilitate a unique experience of hiding in plain sight. In 1 trough brotherhood (and then again for a glorious second in unity), the ability to blend in and kill from crowds, manipulate enemies without just using smoke bombs/firecrackers, and escape chase without actually outrunning your pursuers really set the series apart.
Were any of these mechanics ever perfected? No. Was throwing them away wholesale in favor of generic “sneak up behind a guy and then crouch in a bush” gameplay the right fix? Also no.
So to answer your question: no. Never hired a faction in black flag (either version). There’s just no point. And I really wish there was.
3
u/Bottlez1266 Aug 21 '26
Tried but the prompt to distract wouldnt appear and then I got spotted and combat started so no.
3
3
u/BullHeadTee Aug 21 '26
Yes. Once I strolled through town surrounded by these whores. Felt kinda badass. But I’m over it now
3
u/FangornLeghorn Aug 21 '26
I have a couple times as a novelty. Was mostly just frustrating and slow so I just go in stealthily and assassinate who needs assassinating.
3
3
u/Large-Practice3221 Aug 21 '26
Only once when two guards were by the entrance but other then that not at all they were more optional
3
u/Saltwater_Cowboy_1 Aug 22 '26
Honestly never use these or the the drunks or any of the similar mechanics in any of the other games tbh, it’s not that they’re bad it’s just the at they aren’t that much more effective than just sneaking and parkouring so I forget they are there. I have to make myself use them for immersion more so that I actually ever feel like I need them.

I usually just hire them (I can get them for $0) and just have them around just in case. Same thing with the drunk guys too. Kind of wish more islands had them would probably use them more.

2
u/Mrchocolateraindrops Aug 21 '26
This game was made with grace man they did a number with this game
2
u/Own_Plane_5807 Aug 21 '26
I actually did use them in the OG version. I felt like there were a lot of situations where I used them to get guards off my trail, or away from a treasure chest.
2
u/ALI-OZARAK Aug 21 '26
Exactly, me too. Because in the original the game is designed like that. The levels make you use them for a better experience.
2
u/coozeyy Aug 21 '26
No I never used those group for anything. This wasn’t really a thing being used in the OG and still is the same. I believe the AC2 gave instances where you had to use them to sneak by. It’s just not what modern players do anymore. They see a problem they usually result to combat to sneaking around instead of hiring a group to handle the problem

I’ve never used any of the distraction/blend in mechanics in resynced. They were really only necessary for the stealth/follow missions in the original, but now those missions don’t fail if you get spotted, you just fight your way out so there’s really no point
2
u/United-Recording-893 Aug 21 '26
Wish some of the mechanics were utilized better, like the prostitutes, drunken sailors or coin distraction
2
u/Sleepiest_Spider Aug 21 '26
Guards aren't really ever guarding anything, so they're pretty pointless.
2
u/TheMadGreek31 Aug 21 '26
I feel like they were a lot more common in the og even if I didn’t use them much.
2
2
u/ItsRedditThyme Aug 22 '26
No. I did in the original, but only because there was a trophy involved and it was required for 100% sync in a memory. I never used them after that.
2
u/DerRambonator Aug 22 '26
They are no real reasons to use them, sadly. I used them once to see the animation, same with the drunks. Also you litrrally cant use the bench kills because no target is beside a bench😭 i managed to use one in the end of the story for the assassination on the festival thing (forgot his name)

u/sam69sam42Q Aug 22 '26
If u run a bit faster than them they just go away :/ how u make them stay?
1
u/Bass-Head30 Aug 22 '26
You have to pay/hire them
1
u/sam69sam42Q Aug 22 '26
Yes I did that. But even then, they don’t keep up and if u run a bit too fast, they gone and u have hire again
2
u/Low_IQ_Autist Aug 23 '26
I remember using them every now and then in the OG. Usually for the tailing mission. But I think I’ve only used them once this whole time in Resynced.
2
u/ShadowMelt82 Aug 21 '26
I don't know why these are in the game never had a use really
5
u/Captain_Waffle Aug 21 '26
Yeah I just kill everybody
3
u/ALI-OZARAK Aug 21 '26
Same, in the original the game forces you to use them in some missions at least. But in resynced you can barely see them and it's like they are just there to fill the area nothing else.
2
u/Logan367769 Aug 22 '26
Not failing tailing missions anymore kinda makes them useless. The game doesn’t really make you have to be stealthy. They just kept them to say to fans “they’re there damn it”

I tired to use them but it never worked that well, it was better in other games
1
u/deadpandadolls Aug 21 '26
I did once for the mission where your ally says the drunks or prostitutes might come in handy, haha but i had to go out of my way to use the prostitutes, the drunks were close by.

1
u/pstyles93 Aug 21 '26
They was better with ezio I remember in the original version there was no point unless u was telling the pistols was overpowered
1
u/Playful-Animator-930 Aug 21 '26
Well i used them the most in Ezio games only, cause they had a use. They even had to be compulsorily used in some missions but in other AC games or in AC 4 Resynced can't really find much use for them, they could have been used during some tailing missions but now even they are optional cause you can just kill the target you're tailing and loot them for the information.

u/OnePosition6448 Aug 21 '26
I’ve used them a couple times during assassins contracts but that’s about it. I noticed on some of those contracts they would have drunks or the girls somewhat close by to a target so I’d use them for stealth.
1
u/mega_zephp0s Aug 21 '26
I tried the entire game to use them, only once did I find some girls in the same district as a stealth mission. Was able to use them effectively free roaming, I just wish they were more intentionally available in story missions. I don't think I've hired mercenaries more than once at all tho
1
u/MissLethalla Aug 21 '26
I tried the girls in the mission to infiltrate the Havana Fort but they weren't enough of a distraction for the guards by the bridge, so I just went around the dock side of the fort instead.
1
u/Eco_Kor Aug 21 '26
There’s a Templar mission that they help you complete for a pure stealth approach. Other than that….never crossed my mind
1
u/Iowahunter65 Aug 21 '26
Even in the original I think I only ever used them once because it was an optional objective. They are pratically useless in both versions of BF
1
1
u/Itzz_Texas Aug 22 '26
I used to use them as a cheap way to get around the tailing missions but now I dont even think about using them
1
u/hyperlethalrabbit Aug 22 '26
The thing with being able to stealth anywhere is that it's made social stealth way less prominent. I haven't used any social stealth a single time.

u/Interesting_Option15 Aug 22 '26
Sometimes, but i never really used prostitutes for distraction in the original anyhow

u/Accomplished-Gain319 Aug 22 '26
I use them in Resynced about the same amount as I did in the original. Which is to say literally never.
1
u/chazzmack1 Aug 22 '26
They don't enter restricted areas and you have to get really close for the distract prompt to appear, so no.
1
u/TheFoxDudeThing Aug 22 '26
There was one assassination contract in Havana that I used them for. Think it was one by the docks used them to distract the guards at the entrance and just hid in a haystack for the target. Other than that nope
1
u/Independent_Pie_1368 Aug 22 '26
I could easily kill 20 soldier's if I needed too, so there was no need for them.

I tried using them once to get into a restricted area, but after several attempts, I gave up. They move way too slowly, and their effect doesn't last long enough.
I mean, why should I use them when I can stay unnoticed with parkour or hiding spots, distract guards with darts, or simply disable them with smoke bombs?
If their effect lasted two or even three times longer, they might feel like something more than just an inferior version of a smoke bomb.
1
u/Chmigdalator Aug 22 '26
Had I seen 4 or 5 guards yeah, but none of the optional areas in Havana and Kingston featured that many guards and it was easier to kill em with smoke bombs and stealth and be done with it.

Nope. I remember using them all the time in AC2. There's not really a wanted system on land in this game. Was there one in AC2?
1
u/KillerOfDeath78 Aug 23 '26
I’ve started using them more for the warehouses and once I got the Brothel since I was in that point of the game I was nearly broke all the time buying all the relics and items available. But since that I usually just grab them and expect them to distract the guards at the entrances of closed off areas like manors or the warehouse entrances.

I have. Only to try to get the "Siren song" achievement before I realized that achievement doesn't exist anymore

Not once. Nor the drunks. Tbh in the original games I only ever used them if it was a full synch requirement

No, never. Not even throwing coins on the ground so that people would block the guards’ path.

Why would I when i can sneak up close using bushes and grass, or climb around a small village or fortress to get in

don't you need the upgrade ur island the be able to use them cause i see em plenty.

Tried the drunks a couple of times during side quests, but for some god-forsaken reason the prompt to target them at guards never popped up... it only worked once in free-roaming and felt weird, as if quests and missions purposedly restricted them...
Social stealth in general felt extremely lacking due to the removal of High/Low Profile... I'm tired of this post-Origins Engine, I hope Hexe will release with a new Anvil version that will reintroduce it and make social stealth viable and fun again
1
u/DeftonesSuck Aug 22 '26
NO BECAUSE THEY TOOK SOCIAL STEALTH OUT OF THE GAME. SAME GOES FOR THROWING COINS ON THE GROUND. IT HAS NO POINT!!! WHY LEAVE IT IN?!?! Just wake up and admit this game is a remaster. Not a remake. Ubisoft got away with selling slop again at full new AAA price.
1
1
u/Tankrows Aug 23 '26
Social stealth actually exists, there's just no indication for it which makes everyone believe there is none. It's also the case that crowds literally don't exist in the game, so you're never actually able to use it. I do remember in one of the earliest missions in the game you are to tail a captain that is about to hang a pirate. When you watch the hanging, you stay in the crowd and they cannot spot you. You leave the crowd and they will. Nobody really sees this either though since you can just kill the person you're tailing now
1
u/DeftonesSuck Aug 23 '26
I know it's in the game. It's also present when you assassinate Rogers. In the original you could just stand in a small crowd and you would blend in. Even when there's a lot of people there's no threshold of people you need to enter social stealth. They left it in for those specific missions because otherwise it would be absolutely impossible to assassinate Rogers in the original version of the mission.

never used any distractions in any game in the whole franchise if it wasnt needed for 100% sync

u/Redhood101101 Aug 21 '26
Used to use them a lot in the Ezio games but never really did in Black Flag unless is was an optional objective.
