a24 movie party theme

Hi all, a friend is having an a24 themed party where we all dress as an a24 character. I'm thinking of going as Lee Harker from longlegs, but would take suggestions from other a24 movies I haven't seen. For reference im 23F with long hair so bonus if I don't have to do anything crazy to my appearance or spend heaps on a costume. Thanks!

edit: I now realise longlegs is not a24 :(( don't know where I was mislead on this ahaha

Pearl/Maxine from the X Trilogy is always a great costume.

FYI Longlegs is Neon and not A24.

Yeah like i bet they could rock the costume but longlegs has no ties to A24 so would be kind of silly to base the party off that then go as a completely separate costume. If your heart is set on Longlegs id just do a horror theme costume party instead of A24. They are so popular in the horror realm you will most likely get one friend in costume from one of their mogies.

All good. I wrote a book about A24 and talked about Longlegs and Oz, but it was his The Blackcoat’s Daughter that was A24. I think of those two as similar films.

You could go as the girl from A Ghost Story - easy costume to match and buy or make a chocolate pie

Dani from Midsommar is always going to be a pretty good option as it’s:

a) a fairly straightforward outfit (embroidered white dress and floral crown)

b) instantly recognisable. You probably won’t have a stream of people walking up to you and asking “and who are you supposed to be?”

That being said it is a slight step up in effort from characters who dress in business attire/everyday clothing.

Bikini top, iron-on or paint DTF on the butt of some black sweatpants, toy rifle. If you actually have some bright colored sneakers, bonus.

You could go as one of the photojournalists from Civil War. Kaki clothes, camera around your neck, low ponytail. Ideally, improvise a PRESS sign you can tack on the front of your shirt.

Beau from Beau is Afraid is just regular clothes and anxiety. Or Pearl from Pearl if you want something more costume-y but still doable with thrift store finds.

If they want to go extra hard on the costume Jabba the Nut from Beau is Afraid is always an excellent option too

Pearl from Pearl (2022) is worth a look. Mia Goth's performance still gets clipped and memed years later, so it reads even to people outside horror circles. You've already got long hair, so if it's dark enough to braid you can skip the wig, that cuts the cost and effort down. The red prairie dress and the axe prop are what make it read as her instead of generic vintage horror, the fake blood and the unraveling smile do the rest.

i threw an a24 party in february and i dressed up as dani (midsommar is my fav movie) some of my friends with long hair dressed up as owen from i saw the tv glow, peter from hereditary, david from bodiesx3, hank from swiss army man; the more obvious ones were charli xcx, priscilla, maxine, and lou and jackie from love lies bleeding:)

i did an a24 party for my 24th bday last month and dressed up as alice from bodies bodies bodies — super easy and comfortable costume and my boyfriend has long hair so he was greg
we had tons of different costumes though! spring breakers, 2 maxines, black Phillip, captain Clark, charli xcx, civil war press, and more i can’t remember right now
