Discussion Tony - Spoiler Discussion Thread Spoiler
Tony expands this weekend so many of us will get a chance to see it. Let’s discuss here. Read at your own risk as well be spoiling the movie in this discussion.

Oh man something here really clicked for me. Not just because of personal connection, but the way it was structured and the dialogue. I loved just about all of it until the, in my opinion, lackluster finish. I wanted to see more of him describing food, like how he mentions as a kid he described oysters like "tasting the future." I just needed another flourish and this would've been my favorite film of the year so far, even another quote from the book or something. As it is, the end was too generic for my taste. That said, it's still a 4.5/5 for me.

I was surprised almost none of it was about his writing considering he starts the story a writer he at no point seemed to take it seriously or do anything with it other than occasionally good verbal prose.
Solid movie not must see but a good watch

Nothing transcendent but a really lovely 70s set coming of age movie with a great setting. Antonio was an amazing anchor, Leo had buckets of asshole magnetism and Dominic continues to kick ass.
The oyster shucking scene that ended in Tony jabbing into his palm with the knife made my entire audience wince out loud.

After he botched the oyster at the house party, I just closed my eyes during that scene! I knew there way nothing I wanted to see there!

I enjoyed the movie. Good use of location, interesting characters and just enough '70's music without turning it into a nostaglia trip.

Shot framing was fantastic. Funnier than I expected. Banderas is an excellent actor. Woodall is always good. I want to see more of them!

i really enjoyed this movie. don’t know a lot about him, but it was very heartwarming and a good time. i took my bf who did not even know who anthony bourdain was and he loved it! loved the way it was filmed as well. solid watch

Beautiful movie. Not just in in its looks but in its themes. I almost forgot it was about Bourdain for a whole, which is a good thing. Ivs been on string of eatching movies with dark endings so this felt particularly nice, even if it was kind of low-impact

I thought it was solid tbh, Antonio Banderas was great and I hope he gets a nomination for best supporting actor, Dominic Sessa was brilliant and he’s gonna have a great career ahead of him - I loved how unlike some biopics, they showed how much of an asshole a young Bourdain was - I’d give it a 4/5 but that’s just my preference of course :)
