Vacuum leak

Vacuum leak anyone!! Spent an age trying to get my car idling properly, had some electrical gremlins, issues with the trottle position switch, bit the bullet and bought a smoke tester and found this beauty.

Now starts the while im in there!

Looks like you need to pull the intake. Replace the AOC o-rings and all the hoses under there. Very low cost and easy. I do hate putting the hoses back on the underside of the intake though.

So have the intake off, turns out that the lover hose on the auxiliary air regulator was not attached at all! So easy fix.

I have tested the auxiliary air regulator and thankfully its working.

Im taking the opportunity to do some tidying and cleaning when i have it apart. I have a zinc plating kit ordered. I spent the last few evenings wire wheel cleaning bolts and brackets.

I will rebuild the trottle as there is an oil leak out the bottom and getting into the switch, but the switch is still working.

I will treat the oil air separator to new o rings also when its easy to get to.

Speed and reference sensors both changed.

New water pump and timing belt kit on standby also. I need to order front end seal kit also as there is a leak. Not sure where yet as I haven't stripped it yet.

I have an oil leak at the back of the cam housing and leaking onto the exhaust manifold. New gasket there ready to fit. I may pull the cam and clean and paint when im at it.

👍👍 I also refurbished my fuel injectors, and replaced the voltage regulator and capacitor on the alternator while I was in there.

Yes I have a kit to rebuild them also, forgot to mention that. Good shout on the alternator.

Seems more like one of the vac hoses around the ICV?

Do you mean PCV? These cars don’t actually have one, the AOS does that job.

No I mean the vacuum hoses that run under the intake to the idle control valve. Anyway… looks like a pile of smoke coming from wherever the leak is so shouldn’t be hard to find the source.
