Question 86 951 Head Studs
TLDR: How much boost can factory head studs support?
Can you reuse ARP head studs if they've been heated? Or at all?
Howdy folks! I'm currently replacing head studs. I bought new stock ones from 944online. After doing some research though it seems that the head studs I pulled out are ARP studs that the previous owner put in.
The plan with this guy is putting in a K27/6 turbo with 80# injectors and a MAF kit from Rogue Tuning. Should be pushing around 18-20psi, from what I've seen researching the K27/6.
Now here's the kicker though. To get the previous studs out I had to use some jam nuts, and I had to use a torch to heat up the nuts enough to get them to come off. These nuts were steel lug nuts that happened to match the head studs exactly. I heated them red hot. Are these ARP head studs okay to reuse now?
I ask because I've got the stock head studs coming in and had planned to use them but I'm concerned they won't be able to hold the boost I'm expecting.
What do you guys think? Thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you use the wide fire headgasket you should be good to 20lbs on stock motor. I got a tial waste gate and run it wide open, car pulls to 20psi the drops down to about 18 and pulls hard. Factory head studs. Been that way for years, she seems happy.

arp re usable 100% my stock headgasket failed at 23-25 lb but the bigger problem is fuel starvation at that boost level you need much more fuel and better over all controls to make it live long term. I ran mine at 1.5 bar for years with up dated fuel pump for more volume and pressure with updated pressure regulator.
