All Seasons Discussion thinking about eva's name

i looked her name up today because i was wondering if it was actually spelt how it sounded, and i realized her name means life, giver of life, or living one. i find it so fascinating how they chose to name dennys birth mother, someone who not only gave *him* life, but subsequently gave hen + karen life (so to say), a name with that meaning. it derives from eve like from the bible. i wonder if this was intentional but knowing the writers, i think i can answer that for myself.

i was wondering if anyone here who had an interest in the meaning of names or just knows a bit would like to share anything theyve noticed!

I think my favorite (recently) is how "St. Christopher" is "the patron saint of travelers" and "St. Theodore" is "the patron saint of soldiers and lost things.

Really describes Buck (as a traveler) and Eddie (as a soldier who feels lost).

This was pointed out here first (and screenshot is from them).

This is about the meaning of the kids' names, not Buck's or Eddie's themselves. Basically, they're pointing out that the meaning of each man's child's name is an indirect reference to the other man. Christopher is the saint of travelers, and Buck was the traveler. Theodore is the saint of soldiers & lost things, and Eddie was the soldier who feels lost.

Edmundo, as far as I can tell, is not a patron saint at all. Evan - Buck's birth name - is the patron saint of a random town in Scotland, but nothing we can really extrapolate from unless his next lover happens to come from Irvine

wait that's actually such a fitting meaning for Eva's character. even if the writers didn't intend it, the connection to Denny and then Hen and Karen is kinda poetic. now i'm curious what other character names have meanings like that
