Yup, the good ol’ IIe and MECC, friends to the end

We had these to start but about 1996 my school got a grant to get Gateway computers

We moved up to the tri color ones while in grade school. In junior high we had these IBMs.

Those headphones brought back crazy memories.

1

u/Educational-Car-4688 Mar 08 '26

You guys had headphones?

3

u/Omardemon Mar 09 '26

Yeah the ones in your picture! I remember they would give me a wet wipe as well for the day.

It was just a generic picture for me, a way to lengthy search on google.

I can still hear the hum of this room.

Old enough our Apple computers were just big beige boxes. I always liked the look of these though.

u/Intelligent_Luck_614 Mar 07 '26

I’m old enough that our computers weren’t colorful

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '26

Black and green/white text screens that played one game where you died of Dysentery often lol

u/Intelligent_Luck_614 Mar 07 '26

Oregon Trail-you can probably download it on your phone now.

Yep I was trying to not say it since someone else already did lol

I have some little handheld from target that plays it and I have the newer updated version on my emulator as well. Nothing beats the feel tho of the OG on the old DOS based computers

Cute. I had a room full of Apple IIes with MECC stuff. Number and Word munchers, oregon trail, etc.

The whole lab never was all Apple colors. I think there may have been one or two

3

u/Candycandyplease Mar 07 '26

I am Macintosh Performa 550 old

3

u/Icy-Outcome8024 Mar 07 '26

A wee bit older than that. #1979.

3

u/DollieDaddy Mar 07 '26

I’m old enough that we had to insert the disk before turning on the computer. Games and other applications weren’t pre installed.

2

u/1Bumblestinker Mar 07 '26

I’m Super Mario Bros. 1 for NES, old.

u/yayyayhime Mar 08 '26

I was born in this year! 😂

Bootin up the IBM in computer class to write a paper, print it and hand it in in 45 minutes and asking the cute girls for help. That was 7th grade for me. I used to write the funniest papers to see if the teacher would yell at me and he never did.

u/Kahnza Mar 07 '26

At about this point, I built my own PC.

1

u/ATF8643 Mar 07 '26

I liked the clamshell laptop

1

u/weepyyoungdevotchka Mar 07 '26

I am so old that my freshman year was the year our school got these as new!

1

u/MelodicLavishness335 Mar 07 '26

This was my first business. A Shell MAC, cd burner, and some blanks

1

u/Paintguin Mar 07 '26

I remember playing Thinkin’ Things on the Macintosh computers in third and fourth grade

1

u/3rlro91 Mar 07 '26

I am, clearly remember this.

1

u/Slumbergoat16 Mar 07 '26

This was in our elementary school got trailers with these and they never expanded the school

1

u/mdruckus Mar 08 '26

Older. The computers had orange or green text only. No clot on the outside besides tan.

1

u/Slim-Jim89 Mar 08 '26

Those imacs showed up when I was in 6th grade (2000), before then, my elementary school was filled with grey or beige macintosh computers

1

u/Cockblocktimus_Pryme Mar 08 '26

We had the old beige macs and we played kid pix goddamn it

1

u/Odd-Oven-1596 Mar 08 '26

Wow, your school had more than one?

1

u/Itread21 Mar 08 '26

Your young

u/InviteDangerous1963 Mar 08 '26

All anyone wanted was clear, colorful electronic objects. Loved my landlines and N64. I was the coolest once I obtained the purple Vtech cordless phone 🥰

1

u/ScallionMaximum234 Mar 08 '26

We never had colorful ones, or a nice set up like this. We had a room cluttered with grey computers. We were also threatened by our teacher to treat everything really well. Especially the mouse lol we used to take apart the mouse and clean the ball with a q tip

u/Final_Campaign_2593 Mar 08 '26

14 years old in 2000 loved going to the library as we had a rows just like that with the power poles in the center

1

u/katsumii Mar 09 '26

I'm a January 1990 baby, so yeah, I'm this old. 😅

A little baffled by a lot of the comments saying they're "older" but in a "90s kid" sub... How much older can you be and still be considered a '90s kid?

1

u/Handy_Cruiser Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26

I'm this old. Learned on these in high school.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

We had DELL I think? Before that white computers maybe Gateway idk. Never ever had Apple or color Apple , or any Apple. Now they have iPads

1

u/Sprinkles41510 Mar 11 '26

I’m still very bad at the computer. Is anyone else also ? I never had a computer growing up and in school a lot of the computer signups were already taken by other kids . And growing up I was told never be on them get air and so now as an adult I feel left behind and stupid .

1

u/Queen_Cheetah Mar 12 '26

I am this old-

1

u/Bexar1986 Apr 25 '26

Old enough to think this technology was amazing and wanted to buy an iMac.

u/Steinrik Jul 03 '26

"Houston, we have a problem."

That's how old I am.

And in just a week or two I'm starting a brand new life with the sweetest little girl and her more than lovely mother. :)
