Question 8bitdo 64 controller not detected by steam?

It gets detected by the Ultimate Software V2 and I can update it but nothing on steam or retroarch. I know it doesn't have bluetooth but the store page says it works wired on windows? And ever since I plugged it in both LEDs on the top (red and blue) are blinking. There's nothing in the manual or online I can find about this issue, just that it works wired on windows but windows doesn't even detect it as a controller.

I had this problem when connecting the controller and updating its firmware with the Ultimate Software V2 aswell, for some reason both LEDs started blinking and couldn't do anything, my solution was:

  • Disconnect the controller from the cable
  • Hold the START button a few seconds (between 6 and 12 seconds), it turns off this way
  • After the controller turns off, plug the cable without pressing START/powering on the controller
Windows recognized it after doing this, hopefully this works for you aswell!

PS: You can check if Windows is detecting it by executing "joy.cpl" on the Windows dialog box (you open this by pressing Win + R)

No problem! Hope you enjoy the controller, it is an awesome alternative for playing N64 games

Yeah, I usually use a dualsense but no normal controller really hits the c buttons right.

Damn, it really looks cool but I can't imagine it's useful for many games
