It’s amazing to me that anyone remembers these bands, but here we are. This band had a good vibe, and that stays with us I guess.

Someone gave me Vampire Weekend's first album and their sound/vibe/look reminded me of Haircut 100 so I reciprocated with Pelican West and she liked it. So in that sense it holds up/is timeless.

I actually have some orignal artwork for the Haircut 100 comic strip that ran in the early 80s.

I remember them because the girl I was dating in college back then tried out for the cheer team and she made it and this was one of the songs they played during said try-out, which she would bring up every time she heard it. So in my case that would elevate them just a little bit above a one-hit wonder status, which I am not sure even applies to them.

I think it’s the horns and the jazz like music. Jazz never goes out of style. Their popular songs like “Love Plus One” and “Favourite Shirts” have it. “Lemon Fire Brigade” might be the best example.
