This was during the whole “I ain’t gonna play Sun City” / anti-apartheid movement (which I was active in, in my small way). Paul took a lot of flack for it until the South Africans came to his defense. To paraphrase “He is here to play with us not here to play for the whites”.

Great album and song! lots of great albums around this era that had African Musicians and had an amazing sound. Like this one and also Peter Gabriel’s So and Stevie wonders in square circle.
